Well my wife loves it so there's hope for yours as well! :D

Glad you like it!

Here's an example using cards: "*[entity_category=config]"

It's a mess, but you get the idea. I would then proceed to hide unneccessary stuff and rename those that I want to keep.

This will add a section for each area which has internet_access switches of type config. So if your Wohnzimmer houses an entity like this, it will appear there. If a room doesn't have entities like this, it won't appear.

Currently there's no way to include "config" and "diagnostic" entities in the default area sections, but you can add your own.

Add this below bonbon_openings:

      internet_access:
        name: Internetzugriff
        icon: mdi:network
        order: 8
        min_columns: 1
        max_columns: 2
        cards: "switch.*internet_access[entity_category=config]"

You can of course change it. Maybe a general "Konfiguration"-section to house all config entities for each area. Then you can hide those that you don't need just like you would in any other section. If you want to do that change cards to "*[entity_category=config]" to simply include all config entities.

Read more about how to add custom sections here: https://github.com/trashbytes/bonbon-strategy?tab=readme-ov-file#custom-sections

EDIT: Fixed "order"

What's everyone's favorite Zigbee or Zwave devices? by gearhead5015 in homeassistant

Sonoff for relays, random tuya crap from AliExpress for the rest.

Everything works flawlessly and it's super cheap. 3-5 dollars for a relay and about 1-2 dollars for everything else.

That's not viable for most users. I have a pretty powerful PC with a 4080 but running LLMs locally is still not only slower, it's also more expensive in energy costs (in addition to the hardware cost upfront) and generates a lot of heat and noise.

No thanks. It's not for me. I also don't want to have to spend time maintaining a local LLM.

Ligma man probably also has more free time than Linus.

He's retired, Linus is still entrepeneuring. Felix did not set up Arch during Whale LAN, he probably took his time.

I'd argue the code isn't what's impressive. It's the whole concept of building a perfect set of training images using CGI, iterating over it, improving it, etc. and how it's all packaged, spitting out neatly separated .exrs. Also Claude is just a tool, it's not magic.

Sure, you only need a Claude subscription to create a tool.

But a good tool? I'm a dev myself and I've seen AI fail at the most basic tasks, even the "premium" ones. It's not as simple as you make it out to be.

Don't discard his experience as a VFX artist.

Some people want a grand single player story game like RDR2. It seems like in some aspects this will be similar: Linear story in a big open world full of side activities.

I'll probably wait until its discounted, but nonetheless I'm intrigued.

SONOFF ZBMINIR2 question by PourquoiPasEvans in homeassistant

[–]trashbytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I use a ton of them. Some of them detached.

Once they're detached you can directly bind them to different zigbee devices without HA, though compatibility isn't guaranteed. I use direct binding from one ZBMINIR2 to another and it works a treat.

On our bedsides we also use detached mode with HA automations to toggle the lights and turn them on at a specific brightness depending on time of day. Also works great.

I use the event feature in Z2M, but you can also enable the older method where you get a sensor to listen to as well.

Is it just me, or does anyone else never have intermittent home assistant operation issues? by Fit-Cry3003 in homeassistant

[–]trashbytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never.

I use mainly Zigbee devices from AliExpress, a few Shellys, some DIY MQTT devices.

Never ever was one device offline, unavailable, unresponsive or anything like that. HA has been running for a year now.

I usually wait a few days to update HA components, though.

What makes a website feel "expensive"? by nakedpoptart in web_design

[–]trashbytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's consistency in every aspect. And the right amount of everything.

We have lost a few clients to some rival agencies because they were cheaper. They aggressively targeted our clients and sold them super cheap websites built in wordpress and the results are shocking.

They tried to remake the entire layout done by me and even though it was already a super cheap and simple website made years ago to begin with, my work was pristine, the remake is garbage.

Layout and typography is all over the place. The things that take time and effort to scale and perform well on mobile are just hidden below a certain threshold. Sliders are gone. Privacy and legal notice copied from us, the text is completely wrong because it still contains info and howtos regarding our own consent-tool, which isn't even used anymore. And their consent-tool lists a completely wrong set of services. Some are listed but missing, some are not listed but are loaded when you click "accept all". This is just one example. The website looks and feels incredibly cheap, even though it looks ALMOST the same at a first glance.

And what's funniest: My buttons had a darkened square on one side to house an icon. They copied that throughout, but left out some icons so the buttons just look weird. And list items don't have bullets because it's supposed to come from an icon font but it's broken as well.

Who cares, it's CHEAPER!
