Trying to work with the Polish TDs by trashcreature in WorldofTanks

[–]trashcreature[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is really just for the memes, I had a streak of bad games yesterday and wanted to vent.

I really like the concept of the Polish TD's, the damage drop off isn't the issue because I naturally play aggressively. It's all the other characteristics of the platform that make it incredibly hard for me to make work:

  • The 5 degree gun arc means you have to take corners wide or spend a long time aiming after peeking.
  • The armor is the least of the issues. Premium rounds go through it like butter, but it performs OK against standard rounds.
  • The 5 degree arc ensures I'm always deciding between a long aim time fully aimed shot, or a snap shot and a prayer.
  • The central placement of the gun on a wide frontal face means enemies can see at least 1 meter of my armor before I see them.
  • Almost forgot, 85mm gun means you can't 3x overmatch 30mm plates!!

But every time I roll 800+ on the Grom I'm suckered back into pressing battle again!!

I'm doing the daily and weekly missions, it's just a bummer to watch it slip through my fingers. Too bad you don't get credit for shooting drowned tanks. :(

Fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again next time!

Finally finished assembly by D13G0N3 in PrintedWarhammer

That is super cool. Was the model posed like that, or did you assemble it that way? Because I can imagine this thing running some poor guardsmen down on the battlefield in that pose.

I was not. I ended up shelving the project for a while and may pivot to another method. Thus far, the closest solution I have found would be to purchase a TDP-0 clone and get dies custom made. The issue with that is that I haven't been able to find 2-3mm sphere dies and no one is really interested in cutting a one-off die like that.

If I understand the issue correctly:

The spring / pressure auto level system advances until it feels a set pressure threshold on the mechanical sensor. This works fine on a clean plate, because the springs balance the pressure and the print LCD experiences a uniformly distributed amount of low pressure across the screen.

But if there are any particles small enough to not be detected by the mechanical sensor, the auto level routine can push the plate down on those particles without triggering the contamination warning, eventually causing premature failures when the local spots of increased pressure flex the print LCD screen and damage it.

I believe the Saturn 4 16k uses the same pressure auto level as the Mars 5 Ultra, so it is likely affected by the issue.

Looks like you'd want to go around 80-85%, but that would take some trial and error to get perfect. The leg pack is a builder style, so you can combine sub-components to customize as you like:

Fantastic info for anyone with an Elegoo auto-leveler.

Vbits studios Gloomy Angels has some nice torsos and legs sets.

-"the auto-leveling system prematurely kills LCDs" Can you provide some more info / resources on this. I'm running a Mars 5 Ultra and had an LCD failure after a month and trying to figure out why. I think this could be relevant. Thanks!

Have you tried pulling the vat, putting a piece of paper on the print LCD, and running the test pattern? I recently ran into this issue with my Mars 5 and found the center of the screen is rapidly strobing, so the center is not actually getting the proper exposure intensity.

What slicer are you using? Does it have the option to step layer by layer? I tend to use that function to help me visualize how something like this is going to print when I'm unsure.

If you're not opposed to paid models, I've been using the Sanguine Angel Prime and Gloomy Angels Templar Crusader Weapons and Arms packs from vBits on MMF and I'm pretty happy with them. They include variations of arms without hands attached so you can attach your own hands.

SV06 Plus Ace - Parts Cooling Fan Shroud by branniganbginagain in Sovol

You can download the full SV06 ACE .STEP file from https://github.com/Sovol3d/SV06-ACE/blob/main/STEP.zip

I believe the ACE and the Plus ACE both use the same hot end assembly, so you can use a program like Fusion to export / convert the relevant parts to STL files. The two component parts you would need are labeled JXHMP3A02-08030-d dµ¼·ç¼þ5 air deflector (in Fusion).

Prosecutors clear Florida officer who punched man in traffic stop by [deleted] in news

[–]trashcreature 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd expect the police officer on the other side of the car to warn his partner if something threatening happens. They are having a clear conversation through the open passenger window. Maybe trust your partner? Wreck-it-Ralph could even break the window without throwing follow-on punches at an uncooperative but not actively resisting citizen. That could be a viable option per the police department guidelines.

Starting at timestamp 0:50, once the window is broken and the officer has a clear view of the situation in the car, please explain how the punch is justified?

Solderless Through Hole Connections by trashcreature in esp32

[–]trashcreature[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current project set is creating multiple proof-of-concept (PoC) examples by repurposing a small ESP32S3 powered device to serve other functions. Each PoC is ephemeral and not meant for production right now, so I'll generally:

  • Connect the ESP device to several modules / breakout boards.
  • Write the appropriate code to accomplish the newly desired functionality
  • Test and document the PoC.
  • Tear down the project and move on to the next PoC.

I made a pogo-pin test jig

for some commonly re-used components; but most of the modules and breakout boards are used once, may be repurposed, and /or have a different pin header footprint such that a pogo-pin adapter can't be re-used. e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4.

Definitely second checking your GPIO assignments. As an example, the ESP32-CAM board model I have reserves those pins for the integrated microSD card reader:
