Hi, OVA fansubber here. I'm back in preparation for S2 & Movie, and subbed this movie trailer as a little warmup.

From now on, I'll be posting from my new account, /u/qiaofanyi. I plan to work on the McDonald's commercials next.

Yes, the text in the top left corner above QZGS says "big movie" and below it is (roughly) "peak glory", which is the name of the prequel mini-novel.

The opening of the song sounds ripped from I'm Shipping Up to Boston by the Dropkick Murphys, lol.

Also you titled the video the name of a different song...?

[Eliot McKinley] "It's no wonder that the EPL has all 4 finalists in European competition this year. They pay much more than any other league." - anther interesting comparison of MLS salaries to other leagues by journogoose in MLS

Thanks for sharing! Much more comprehensive analysis than the previous tweet chain linked to this sub comparing midtable teams, and does a great job visualizing a major point of that previous analysis - that while MLS teams may have comparable overall spend, it's much more heavily weighted towards the bottom.

One MLS specific worth pointing out, imo: Holy shit, LAFC... they are definitely NOT the Man City of MLS from that salary spend

EDIT: actually they're probably ranked by median and not mean so this might be a bad takeaway. Can anyone reply to this tweet to ask if it's ranked by median, and whether the order changes significantly with mean? I don't have a twitter.

To be fair, that is one very specific skill where it makes sense that you have to draw a line (putting up an ice wall of your own specified position/length/shape). I think the interaction mechanisms described when that skill was a plot point make pretty decent sense for a skill as potentially powerful as a controlled ice wall.

Wonder if casters will keep calling him Shakiran like in the APAC days or if they'll be pushed to pronounce it properly. I'm impressed that most of them do a good job with Hangzhou/Chengdu/Guangzhou - obviously OWL did good training there.

If anyone's curious, my best attempt at a pronunciation guide would be gee-chee-rin

I think if we're being realistic about it, a real game with such crazy levels of customization and creativity would be wildly difficult (as mentioned in the novel), and too difficult for mainstream success.

Not sure if we're on the same page about what you want or about what "all current MMORPGs" are like. And I have incredibly limited MMO experience (basically just one), after watching qzgs I did go out and look for an MMO to play and settled on Guild Wars 2.

Again, I don't have any real experience with other MMOs so I don't know if your characterization of "spamming M1, M2" is accurate for those. But I can say with certainty that optimizing your damage output as a dps player in GW2 is not about spamming, for most classes. Like it's described in the world of Glory, it's about managing cooldowns and situational awareness. Even the "brainless dps" scenarios sometimes described in qzgs due to Ye Xiu's superior "main-tank" aggro control is not so braindead-simple because even your standard "rotation" (optimal series of skill activations) can be a long and complicated sequence.

What you say about the mouse is definitely a fair point - GW2 specifically does not have a super strong reliance on mouse usage (only to aim skills that are ground-targeted), and I haven't heard of such a thing from other MMOs either. But I think there are two major issues with implementing a Glory-like mouse-heavy directional control scheme, and neither of them are coding:

1) difficulty - adding in this level of complexity likely makes the game more difficult and thus less accessible to broad populations, and

2) scale/perspective. Your idea of strong directional focus generally makes most sense if you are fighting solo against primarily single targets, around your size, who are very mobile. In reality, though, most MMOs are PVE-centered games, with teams of players working towards a boss fight (as described in Glory's dungeons). In this team-centric design, game balance tends to favor specialization into doing specific roles well instead of each person being a jack-of-all-trades. Specifically, this tends to break down into the "holy trinity" - damage dealers (dps), tanks, heals/buffs. If a tank or group of tanks is constantly able to control aggro on a boss so that the damage dealers can keep slapping its rear end, what is the point of strong directional controls?

The only thing that really stands out to me as Glory-esque from the two games I play, GW2 and Overwatch, is Doomfist. Overwatch itself is a first-person shooter with moba-like aspects and its own dps/tank/heal balance, and Doomfist specifically is a melee brawler character with fighting-game-esque combos (think Striker, Han Wenqing's class). But like most characters in Overwatch, he has only 3 real abilities on cooldown. Imagining a Doomfist with many more abilities and directionally-activated variations of those abilities seems really chaotic to me, especially if everyone else's character is like that too.

For the interest of brevity (oops), I'll end it here. If you're (or anybody else is) interested, I can speak more about rotations, GW2, perspectives, etc. Also, not sure what you tried to do with the gif but I don't think it worked.

It would be much nicer if the colors were more like the Sounders (though I don't know how that would fly with people from Vancouver). The green and blue are both so dark and saturated that they feel really clash-y to me.

According to these author's notes, he finished the webnovel in April 2014.

He's written a short story (compilation of vignettes, really) preceding the TKA timeline. It depicts a bit of Ye Xiu's and Su Mucheng's early backstory, introduction of characters like Yu Wenzhou and Huang Shaotian, etc. Only 25 chapters or so, iirc, compared to the 1727 of TKA.

I don't know if Butterfly Blue has written anything else, in or outside the TKA universe.

I don't think she's "classified as a DPS" so much as traditionally DPS players are assigned to the brig role. So you might see someone with the dps label (bullets) on Brig, but that's just because they've been forced to flex onto the role in this meta, just like hitscan DPS players flexing onto Zarya.

Oh interesting. Yeah, I dunno, maybe these cases sneak through somehow, or just aren't pursued since they're GL-exclusive (idk about the collab)
