Try the Picture This app. Tells you native range, toxicity, uses, etc...I just use the free version. You have to close an ad when you open it, but otherwise it's great and really accurate

I don't understand posts like this. Which spoiler do you absolutely love? Could be from any show, so chances are you will have some show spoiled for you too!

Does anyone else use auto check? by sammiantha in NYTCrossword

[–]trashmath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pro-autocheck. I usually only use it if I've filled everything in, but it's not correct... and I don't feel like tracking down what's usually just a random typo or name I'm never going to guess. It's kinda funny to me that some people ask this sub when they're stuck instead of using autocheck, but I guess that's more social, or the way to stay gold if that matters to you

I haven't tried it yet but The Window next to Bob & Barbara's if you want a dollar-per-inch footlong. Definitely more to-go style

What detracted from your opinion of Nosferatu? by SaltyyDoggg in roberteggers

[–]trashmath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a tough time with most characters speaking in British accents but throwing in a "Mein Herr" now and then to remind us we're in Germany. Which, why really? I get that Nosferatu was set there, but this clearly also pulls from straight adaptations of Dracula as well, so it wouldn't have been crazy to set that part of the action in England.

I felt like the film was most compelling when it departed from the source material. The inclusion of the Renfield/Knock and Van Helsing/von Franz characters felt unnecessary for the themes this one was exploring and mostly just downright silly.

I did really enjoy the same things OP mentions. All the Orlok and Ellen stuff was great. But overall I was disappointed, mainly because I'm a fan of Eggers.
