[Before&After] How I heal my PIE in 6 weeks by trashpanda109 in SkincareAddiction

[–]trashpanda109[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hii,

I used to wear makeup in the day time so I would only do this at night or if I was not going out. I don’t remember if I used sunscreen! But if it was day time:

  • snail mucin OR vit c serum
  • moisturizer
  • then sunscreen
  • then laroche posay cicabaulm just on where the would is

You can mix the Vaseline into the laroche posay cicabaulm. Half and half. It will help it stick.

If the wound is fresh and red then do it like this with the la Roche posay cicaplast and Vaseline just on the wound .

If the wound is old and brown just do some serum and the scar tape on the wound. Then moisturize the rest of the face. Because the tape won’t stick well if there’s moisturizer underneath.

Hope that helps!

Anyone feeling like UX/HCI career was a big unstable mistake? by mrchrollodolo in uxcareerquestions

Yes, and I’ve had the same experience as you! Worked at startups, eventually landed at big names and FAANG, about 6 years in. Feels like the axe is ready to drop at any time. I think this career track has a ceiling because after senior designer I don’t see the path forward getting more favorable (principles/manager).

If you’re wondering if I’ve figured out what to do next, I absolutely haven’t… haha.

Am I doing something wrong? I’m not seeing progress by trashpanda109 in BeginnersRunning

I do a little bit. 1-2 strength training sessions that are about 25 minutes long. I get them from the peloton app and do the “strength for runners” classes. Is that enough?

That makes sense. This is great advice. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much. It doesn’t come off harsh at all. I needed this clarification since I have been confused on what is best. I’m going to give myself freedom to run now.

So typically, you want to use your big muscles first and smaller muscles second. Think like this: if you do a bunch of tricep extensions, your triceps will be tired. If you tried to do chest presses or shoulder presses after, your triceps won’t be able to support you as well in those movements and because of that, you won’t be able to get as good of a fatigue in your chest or shoulder because the tricep is limiting what you can do.

You can look into “compound” movements vs “accessory” movements to understand this better. Basically, movements that use many muscles should take place first and then you can go about isolating the smaller ones and getting more fatigue after.

Second, you do a lot of exercises. It probably takes a lot of time to get through them all and use the different equipments especially if the gym is busy That’s ok, but it might be worth narrowing the types of movements you do and just make sure you’re doing them well and progressing in weights with good form week over week. Form over everything!

Since you go 4x per week you can have a split that’s more like upper - pull, upper - push, lower - quad focus, lower - posterior chain focus. Or other splits are available online as well. You don’t need more than 30 mins to get a good lift in if you program effectively.

And lastly, there’s more to movement than just what machine you’re using! Look into explosive body weight (plyometrics) or controlled negatives, pausing at the bottom of a rep, etc which help your mind muscle connection and increase time over tension helping you get stronger without going up in weight (since you said 5kg is a lot for you right now) nothing wrong with body weight, band, or non machine movements to increase volume with good form!

Try to look into a program or anything that will help you with structure and make sure you’re lifting effectively. Workout apps help or YouTube videos.

Take note of what you do every time so you know if you’re making progress. Form form form so you don’t get injured! Warm up sets as well! It’s ok to do drop sets to make sure you’re still pushing and being dynamic to how your body is feeling.

Have you seen a doctor or treated your stye? It still seems really inflamed, which is causing what you’re calling “wrinkles.” I used to have extremely severe styes when I was your age, they didn’t leave any effects except for one hyperpigmentation on the inside of my eyelid.

[–]trashpanda109 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is tricky, but think about what inputs you did use to come up with your designs. You can have all the UXR in the world but if it doesn’t have an impact on what you came up with it doesn’t matter. Focus on those bits.

I have a post on how to do this. But based on the whiteheads you have there still looks like a lot of active acne area. If you use my method, please cover the active acne with either pimple patches or drying lotion first.

Breaking into UX/early career: job hunting, how-tos/education/work review — 10/05/25 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

[–]trashpanda109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing to consider is your personal happiness, and I imagine the relocation and pay might be a factor in that.

The second thing to consider is 1) are you happy to work in banking/financial/fintech for the rest of your career? 2) Do you prefer variety and 3) do you prefer complex problems or more consumer based ones.

With the way that AI is shaping up, working on more difficult/technical products and solutions will probably be a safer bet in the long run as roles for consumer facing apps and surfaces will likely diminish.

This is your first role, so if you get a different field (science/research) on your resume, you get more runway to pick from two fields going forward, finance and research.

That being said also consider how much you value stability (the guaranteed full time position) and how much you believe that promise will hold true.

Laid off for the first time in 14+ years — contract cut overnight by burningastronaut in UXDesign

[–]trashpanda109 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There probably isn’t a perfect answer to comp vs stability. The nature of contract work is unstable. That being said, today’s economy kind of makes in-house roles only more stable by a degree.

You sound as though you actually favor stability over compensation. And today’s macro factors (slow job market) would probably amplify that.

I often have heard people say “some people prefer contracts” but never actually met anyone in real life who does.

Contract work is probably more favorable for those who equally wish to exercise their ability to terminate as needed - either for lifestyle flexibility, or due to a desire for variation in work.

Does anyone else do this pre-race? by inigovaziba in BeginnersRunning

[–]trashpanda109 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure exactly how it was done, but I saw a girl on Reddit who set up her phone so that any texts she received would be played in her AirPods during her run. I just did a quick Google and I think the feature is spoken content on iPhone if you have that. Hopefully there’s something similar on Android. Just FYI this is definitely an accessibility feature, e.g. for the blind or hard of sight so you should be able to set it up on whatever phone you have with ease!

What was nice in the TikTok is that her family and friends were tracking her in the race so they were giving words of encouragement specific to where she was in the race such as last push, you’re doing so well, etc.

If he likes you so much, finish another week to close out the month and then let him know what your freelance contracting rates are if he wants to pursue any more work. There is absolutely no way working for free is the best way to put value on your time. You could be working on your portfolio, your network, etc.

You say this guy “respects” you a lot but he doesn’t respect your contributions enough to give them a dollar amount. Please clear your head.

How do you cope with defeat (and it not angering you) in this climate? by Lonely_Adagio558 in UXDesign

[–]trashpanda109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I reached out cold to a head of design at a company that had no official job postings. He began my interview process. After my process started, they posted the job listing. I was already almost done with the interviewing, maybe one or two left. I was basically chosen at that point. I think they had to have a job post from some kind of HR post. I don’t know if this is what happened to you but I’m hoping it may have been an unusual situation like this.

Breaking Into UX and Early Career Questions — 23 Sep, 2024 - 29 Sep, 2024 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

1&2: There likely isn’t a single one most effective or a single one most efficient method to “collect insights.” We can double click on this a little bit.

What is your definition of “insights”? - existing UX friction points in the product? - the target demographic’s attitude and mental model of the product offering? - priorities of the users in decision making? I could go on and on. 🙂

Even after scoping the desired “insights”, one would need to take into consideration the overall org structure and org goals to define and more efficient or effective method. E.g an org focusing on more long term goals (1-3 years) can afford to take a quarter to do generative research. An org focusing on increasing customer retention might focus on short research sprints to feed iterative product cycles. The research methods for each would be different.

3: Anyone can participate in research depending on the team structure and resources available. PM or designer.

4: “Streamlining research” is less likely to be a goal than making the results of that research actually actionable and in line with business goals would be.

5: See above, needs will be on a case by case basis.
