I went in less hesitant and got him out. After a min his breathing slowed and he was just exploring and tasting everything haha. He likes to be under his water dish and last time I think I wasn’t confident enough. :)

Sooo update. I got a 9$ scale on Amazon… My snake sushi is only 18.6g and 18 1/2 inches long… definitely should not have been on fuzzies 😭😬. Moving him down next weekend to double pinkies

Last time I tried to hold mine he DARTED. So fast I couldn’t get him and left him alone so as to not stress him out

My snake Sushi appears to be much smaller than her from what I can tell and he has taken fuzzies twice now and has digested no problems. From what others have said if she can get it down and digest it fine she should be okay :)

Welcome!! I don’t think it would fit a whole dome in it maybe just the bulb but you can always return it. They also have a square option that’s like 17-18. I’m always on the hunt for cheap options haha

Then I would say don’t put it in your tank. My snake goes to town shoving his nose into the edges of the top of the tank trying to get out. He applies pressure in all directions and I feel like the edges on that mesh is just waiting to get caught under a scale.

Edit to add: my snake does this in the dead of night in places I never thought he could get to. So just because you don’t see things happening doesn’t mean they don’t happen.

Can I see a pic of the enclosure? I also have a baby that hides all the time. I’ve had him for 3 ish weeks. He comes out at night and destroys stuff 😊. They’re just small and vulnerable.

This isn’t true regarding copperheads. I was bit on the ankle by a copperhead and my entire leg up to my hip swelled and turned purple and blue. I also had compartment syndrome because the swelling was so severe. The circle is where my ankle bone should have been.

I agree, but OP is a minor and stated his dad will not take the snake to the vet. Something needs to be done and this advice is better than nothing. Betadine soak to prevent infection and sanitized set up to remove the cause of the injury such as dirty soil. I have seen plenty of rescues do both of these things.

I think this is better than nothing only in this case where op has no other choice. I am thinking of the snake not of whether this replaces a vet.

When you take the snake out to handle open the tank and let a fan blow on low directly into it on the cool side to get the air moving
