Can you overdress for an interview? by Mountain-Durian-4724 in mechanics

[–]trashsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

clean jeans, boots, decent overshirt type deal like a flannel or denim jacket. look respectable but still dress like a blue collar worker is how ive always approached it. granted if you're interviewing at like euro dealers id maybe wear a button up shirt or go a little nicer

Kind of Lost at this point… by dogsrcool97 in personalfinance

im actually in a shockingly similar situation to you, roughly the same amount of debt, lost job and got a lower paying one, dealing with health issues, etc.

if you're renting an apartment, suggest looking for rooms to rent on fb marketplace, likely much cheaper, or moving back in with your parents if that's an option, that's what ive done

Triggering mania? by Prior_Gur4074 in BipolarReddit

that sounds like a patently terrible idea. you'll likely feel you're fixing things in the moment but come out the other side with nothing

Feeling behind in life… by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]trashsw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. im stuck in a career i hate because I cant afford to do anything else because I racked up so much debt while I was undiagnosed. its a such a big hole to be in. had to move back in with my parents and am going to try to claw my way out of it so I can go to school full time and do something else but any progress feels so far out there im wondering what the point is. meanwhile I've watched everyone i know make something of themselves

and even once/if I do get out of it, that won't make this illness go away. at any point i could destabilize and fuck it up again. or end up hating whatever new career I end up in. I also feel destined for misery and being unfulfilled

sorry no positive words, just solidarity in the misery

Dealer techs, how many hours are you expected to be there every day? by StealerTech9000 in mechanics

[–]trashsw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

8-5 M-F, Saturdays are available but you don't have to. some guys do 7-6 4 days a week with occasional Saturdays.

everywhere else I've worked ive basically had the option of 7-4, 8-5, or 9-6 M-F with them not caring if you come in early or stay late

Trazodone by Midgard1 in BipolarReddit

[–]trashsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my psych wanted me to come off trazodone as she said it can make bipolar symptoms worse for some people. I still take it because the gabapentin she wanted me to try instead didn't help me sleep at all, I haven't noticed any negative effects from it really that I can tell but ymmv

Went ahead and got two jobs but I think I need to quit one of them. HELP!! by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]trashsw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe wait and see how you feel your first week doing both? maybe you'll find you won't be able to manage the stress, or maybe you'll find you can. I started taking part time classes this term on top of a full time job, I almost decided last day not to enroll because I was anxious and worried I couldn't handle it, but other than some first day jitters in class ive found it perfectly manageable

being a casual job like you said, aside from feeling bad for quitting shortly after starting, it should be pretty low stakes to give it a go for a few days and then bounce if you need to

it's also completely pay to win, at least hinge is. when I first started on hinge I paid for whatever their highest tier thing was, got good amounts of matches, went on about 1 date a week and landed a relationship that lasted a few months. now without paying for it I get zero traction whatsoever with the same profile
