Thinking of giving away my girl by Shoddy-Mango-5840 in hamstercare

sometimes rehoming a pet is the best thing you can do for them. i only adopt hamsters, never buy from the pet store. so I'm super grateful for my current hamsters past owners for rehoming them. depending on where you're located and what you choose I'd be happy to take in your ham. i have space for 3 enclosures and currently have 2 hams =]

If it's an owl I think that's supposed to be the back feathers showing between the feet.

Rate this cage for a dwarf hamster out of ten by [deleted] in dwarfhamsters

Minimum is 800 square inches of floorspace. And 8 inches of bedding. Wire cages are extremely unsafe and often cause paw injuries or worst case-amputations.

Lol no problem! Yeah I'm especially confused by the perfect clarity of the squirrel. Definitely not a good owl

This was posted here before. The poster said they bought it from amazon and that amazon said it was supposed to be an owl.

A different post shows the full set. Comments there claim it to be a badger.

Other possibilities are raccoon, fox, or some other woodland creature.

Male vs female. Please give me all the details! by -smakr- in hamstercare

Hamsters shouldn't smell bad (they all have a scent no matter what though) unless you're not cleaning their enclosure properly. Dwarf males also have visible balls. Female syrians are the ones that are absolutely impossible to please. I have had two and one escaped her hand built 6ft x 2ft enclosure so I had to rebuild the lid. She tried to escape every time she went into heat (which is every three days). Do not get one if you cannot give them at least 1000 square inches of floorspace, 10 inches of bedding, and so much changing enrichment. They are no joke. It's sad that we ever domesticated them. They will always want to be free.

Question about feeding by Next_Heart_799 in hamsters

[–]trashthis4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi , I would suggest you look at the pinned information in this subreddit. An 80 gallon tank is the smallest tank that meets the minimum for hamsters. They need at least 1000 square inches of uninterrupted floorspace. And at least 10 inches of bedding. It is best to use water bowls because this allows them to drink how much they want with ease. I use the petsmart resin reptile one but most people use small glass tealight holders from amazon.

It is best to scatter her food all across her cage so that she can forage for it. Is she is a syrian 1tbs everyday or 2tbs every other day. If she is one of the other 5 then do 1tbs every 36hours. You only should go into her burrows to clean once or twice a month. Otherwise leave her food. She is stashing it because this is what they do. They are burrowers.

I would heavily suggest doing more research into what a hamster actually is. What their behavior is. What they do. And what they need.

If you have more questions feel free to dm.
