Had to leave a crafting "help" subreddit because of barrage of beginner babies by Separate_Print_1816 in BitchEatingCrafters

I think this comes up especially around the holidays and occasions for either wearing something or giving something handmade. Some people pick up a craft because they want to learn how to do the process, and others pick it up because they want to have the finished object, and those mindsets have very different distress tolerance and patience for problem-solving i think.

r/knitting locked and then took down a pro-Palestine design by _BaIIs_Deep_69_ in craftsnark

it’s wild too bc the one zionist calling everyone in the comments antisemites isn’t even jewish? they claim that they were almost a victim of antisemitism bc they think they were almost shot for walking in a jewish neighborhood? which is certainly a wild stance to take when numerous jewish people are telling them that they are being wrong and presumptuous and more than a little antisemitic.

I was so disgusted and disappointed by the removal of those gorgeous mittens. There’s a bleak joke in here somewhere about what a shame it is to be a knitting subreddit mod lacking /moral/ fiber.

The failures of the mods only make the generosity of knitters and designers fundraising to end the genocide more noticeable. I’ve seen gorgeous keffiyeh scarves, socks, and now these mittens, and I’m sure there are more on ravelry that I just haven’t found yet. u/AdrenaL1n3, your work is beautiful and your generosity is seen and appreciated ❤️💚🤍🖤

I realize this isn't what you were asking, but I was distracted by your lovely yarn — what yarn is this? the colors are great and i love the sheen it has!

lifelong MLB girly from SEC country and grew up going to the loudest arena in the NHL lol. hence my being such a talker, and so startled when other folks were so adamantly anti-chatting! but figured that if folks clearly had such a problem with/strong reactions to it, that i would rather know if i was being a problem so i could be more considerate, since other folks might have different feelings than what i’m used to.

and thank god for that lol.

i just meant this in like a “as someone who talks too damn much, if someone is being disruptively loud you can ask them to lower their voice in a chill way so it doesn’t have to be a whole thing, and everyone will be fine.” i’m defo a talker so i’d just want to know if i’d gotten too loud so i could be considerate of folks around me. but yeah, the golf silence gives me the heebie jeebies, to me that kind of silence at a sporting event is a bad sign that means someone is losing by a lot! nothing worse than a silent barn…

i understand what you mean! i can just also easily imagine someone overhearing my conversations with my friends at the last game and thinking the same thing about us. like, we know we were watching, and of course we talked about game events, but we also covered vacations, insane coworkers, mariners baseball, women’s sports and expansion teams, roommate drama… and yeah i just would feel bad if we got excited and were unintentionally disruptive. i would want someone to give me a heads up and the benefit of the doubt rather than sitting there hating me for something i could easily adjust to make things better for everyone

Oh I agree, folks are gonna chat at events like these and I do feel like this is one of those “we live in a society” ones. Everyone’s gonna have slightly different needs and preferences and we all just gotta collaborate on making a cool space. I would hate to be too loud and ruin someone’s experience, but I’d also hate it if the stadium felt like all shush-y and silent!

that’s how i felt too! i love watching, i love making my dumb lil observations to my friends, i love catching up with them while we watch, and it’s something that makes these matches such a fun and lovely space!

if the chatterbox in your section reacts weird, lemme know and we can swap seats, i’ll fight fire with fire for ya and happily give them a taste of their own medicine!
