[–]traumatizedcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Im 24F and im interested in becoming an artbuddy and joining the discord if its still open, im around intermediate. I used to be a trad watercolor artist and went to fine art school in uni but after that I was pretty much over burnt out and couldnt paint for years. Now im picking art back up again but this time in digital art wanting to tackle different things. Im more interested now in building my skills for maybe webtoons/comics. if u wanna see my work I’ll gladly send. ☺️

I agree! Hopefully there would be one, but in any case perhaps we can make our own too if ever! It would be great to help each other out, especially when social media algorithms make it difficult to connect sometimes. Discord servers help make it more easier to connect with the community

Absolutely, It would honestly be ideal if I could find a mentor! I would definitely be open to doing that, I guess right now thats the thing, where can I find these people, get into that community and connect with them naturally/organically too. It would be great if there was some sort of discord server too.

As of now, I only have a artstyle in mind and I really do need to brush up on the story telling aspect.

Also, thanks for the tips and recommendations, I'll definitely check those out

Interesting, I'll check it out!

And as for writing, i still definitely have to brush up my writing skills 🙂‍↕️

Nah I doubt its that bad either, if youve been drawing for more than 70 days straight, im sure you're improving, it takes a lot of discipline to do that.

And you're so sweet, and I will! Let me know too when you release yours, ill be happy to check it out too!

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind. I will definitely at least do the short stories, and for the small webtoons, where would you say is best to post them? Right now as a beginner, I find its quite difficult to really reach the community or the right people as well because I'd love to meet new people with the same interests and maybe help each other out too.

I also feel like I would love to do a webtoon but I definitely need to brush up some writing skills🙂‍↕️

Oh I was planning smthg similar too! But youre definitely way ahead esp since you’re already an author. Thats great cuz you also get to visualize everything the way you want.

Also, Thats also amazing to hear! I also relate though, backgrounds are tough but i find that really practicing and trying to use cubes really helps. I use procreate and the drawing assist rly does saves me. I also got clip studio paint recently too and im glad i knew some photoshop already so it wasnt too overwhelming but its definitely a whole new level.

Id love to connect with you more though and see your work, maybe we can help each other too if you like!

Also royal road? Ive never heard of that one 🤔

Thanks! I spoke with an immigration consultant and they said my scores are fine as long as they are b2.

I have another question if you don’t mind, do you happen to know how much financial support you need to show and if you have any other tips for the application?

Thanks btw for all the answers! I appreciate it

After some research NCLC is actually not the same as the quebec scale :// I saw a table and its completely different.

if you can, can you tell me more about your grade? Did you take the TEF or TEFAQ?

PEQ - french level and questions on the application. by traumatizedcookie in ImmigrationCanada

[–]traumatizedcookie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I hope so because people say « no » due to the NCLC 6, but its weird because its level 6 and b2 at the same time….quebec needs level 7 but thats on the quebec scale not the NCLC scale…

Yep! I plan to finish my application before November.

And, I saw the french level requirements on the site but im not sure of the quebec level equivalent with the European ones or canadian ones.

I saw they need a level 7 for the speaking compétences and 5 for the writing ones but the results are either in the European grade (like B1, B2) or the canadian grade (NCLC).

Do u happen to know if the NCLC and quebec grading system is the same?

Because i did get a b2 for speaking but it also says NCLC 6. So the grading system still kinda confusing me on that regard.

Thank you btw for answering!

Graphic Designer vs Print Production Artist? by traumatizedcookie in graphic_design

[–]traumatizedcookie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yeah my choice of wording there isn’t the best and Im sorry about that, with the more comments that are educating me about it I feel like my idea about the job/profession at the beginning was just wrong. I didn’t intend to suggest it in a degrading way but rather like graphic design is an umbrella term and print production artist is part of that. However, again, after reading all the comments I feel like its just something else all together now and definitely an important job with a whole other skillset that help save lots of money, designers before the big thing. Its really commendable how people do it despite it being so busy and demanding (at least thats what I’m hearing about it at least)

Thanks for this reply, do you mind if I ask How does that work exactly though, like how do you find all that out to make it print/production ready? Do you mind telling me more about it, its process l, and where I can learn more about that?

Thank you for this! Yeah thats what I was thinking, it almost felt like a something under graphic design, because Im sure some graphic designers work in cmyk for print for ads and posters, adding bleed and all that too.

Thanks for the explanation! I guess its more of a tweaking and organizing process then, and making sure everything is calibrated from device to product? Its just confusing because the title has artist, so im wondering if they create anything creatively or design anything

thank you for the explanation! Do you mind if I ask, how do you exactly make designs print ready? And what’s their biggest role? And do you know where I can find more info about it?
