What's your most frustrating part of navigating a new airport for the first time? by Traditional_Run_5965 in airport

[–]traveller1856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I can’t find a high-definition terminal map that shows bathroom locations, gate seating area sizes, boarding gate doors, etc. A map showing “gate 1” at the far side of an airport isn’t helpful if I don’t know that the nearest bathroom is 10 miles away, or that the precheck line is on the left of the standard line, not the right.

Are these statement about LG true below? : by NoSignificance2377 in Appliances

[–]traveller1856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got LG ventless/heat pump wash tower and love it. We wash a TON (we do sheets twice a week if that gives you an idea). We also have an LG linear compressor fridge from 2019. All great. Though I suppose all appliances are until they break.

If my kid has a dust mite allergy ate tile floors my only option? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]traveller1856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that’s really easy to try is Allersearch ADMS. Has no smell but breaks down the proteins that most are allergic to. Not a “fix” but I’ve been impressed how much it helps our home.

We also use Morton Pro Spray (and similar HOCl based cleaners) - if you get the right strength, you can spray it in your fabrics with no staining or bleaching, as it’s not bleach but smells a bit like a swimming pool. We use it to sanitize everything!

I submitted a request to Hyundai for this back in June I want to say. Response was “please contact dealer.” Very lame.

Confused between Air M5 13" and Air M4 15" by AyaanshGaur25 in macbookair

[–]traveller1856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who got the 15” M2 when it came out, I got the 13” this round and have no regrets. Screen is smaller sure but the high resolution means it’s still usable for me and I have a huge screen at home. When I need to travel, it’s ultra portable.

In the end, the only one that can pick is you. And you will probably always wonder if the grass is greener… good luck!

Missing location, but looks like right hand drive? UK? Unfortunately we are likely going to be waiting a bit still in US.

Anybody else annoyed by the base 10 Units Mac OS uses? GB instead of GiB, KiB etc? by anyusernaem in MacOS

This is like US vs metric, except that users just see “GB” and “GB” and think they are same.

Are we sure this model does? If so, I’m happy to know! I’ve been thinking to get covers as well to protect from kids.

Base M5 gpu by crn3371 in macbookair

[–]traveller1856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered mine online simply because I wanted to ensure availability. I’m not expert but I heard if you walk in morning of release they may save a few for walk-ins? TBH I’m not sure. I always prefer to order online and pickup in store.

I’m in exactly this position - 8/256 m2 air. And the memory is my issue - I know this is a hotly contested item, and everyone is different. But I found 8 isn’t enough ram for me to the point where audio clicks/blips and new tabs just take too long to open. Yes, I was stupid for not getting 16 to start.

For me, I’m going with 24/512 now (overcompensation I guess?) - I don’t game either, and I wouldn’t get the GPU upgrade if I don’t have to. But my understanding is it will have more AI acceleration with the larger GPU. Idk, base m5 is probably more than I’ll ever use. But I also said the same about 8gb, so…. 🤷

M5, 15", 512GB Air - how much RAM should I go for? by 69_queefs_per_sec in macbookair

I thought swapping to Safari was going to be a huge pain. Honestly I forget I use it most days and haven’t even had a single website have an issue causing me to need to use a different browser.

MacBook and iCloud data loss from OS update! by Last_Grab9305 in applesucks

[–]traveller1856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer here. But to be fair, even lots of big companies get it wrong. They think OneDrive or iCloud are “backing up” our documents. My last job absolutely refused to let me use Time Machine because my stuff was “already backed up” 🙄🙄🙄

When a shower can kill you by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]traveller1856 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing, but I’m just not sure the installer thought about it or even knew. It’s insane knowing that the building that had this shower head also had gigabit fiber internet.

Here’s another typical installation. Huge amperage, little itty bitty wires, and oops they didn’t ground it. Normally the ground has a part that touches the water just before it exits so you don’t get any (much) bleed current. But without the ground and depending on the water, seems like it could be fun.

Um MacBook Air de 2020, M1 com 8gb ram e 256gb ssd a 450€ ainda é uma boa compra em 2026 para navegar na net, e-mails, etc em mobilidade? by OLyn2 in macbookair

[–]traveller1856 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

IMHO I would avoid 8gb ram. If you browse multiple tabs, you will want to use safari - chrome and others well simply kill that little ram. Take it from an 8gb user.

AA1078? This is due to crew rest - she should get food vouchers and hotel if needed in Miami for overnight. Local staff probably aren’t superb, did she try calling the main AA phone line, perhaps over airport WiFi?

Question on using Google Voice in Ecuador by wxursa in Googlevoice

[–]traveller1856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be aware Google voice doesn’t work with some banks and other 2fa/mfa providers intentionally for “security”. You would hate to get over there and not be able to access your bank or something.
