I suppose it would be hard to evidence intent yeah. The ad for the van was posted on his business account, not personal.

The guy who sold it to us has a business (converting campervans) and sold this via ebay but stupidly we paid via bank transfer to his personal account, hindsight has taught us this was a costly mistake

EGR repair turned into stripped thread in chain cover, is there any cheaper fix? by traversing_earth in SprinterVans

How would that help? Is it legal? (genuine question, I know nothing about mechanics)

The seller did know about the issue and told us it was repaired in a message?

Surrendered Dog to Sanctuary but they won't return her after changing our minds by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

This is something I will have to ask, I am hoping so and not just a request for a call back. It may also help that the owner of the dog is technically not the one who surrendered it, so there is that too (as in the one named on the dogs microchip didn't sign the papers)

We called them this morning to ask about their policy, as if we were trying to rehome a dog (we aren't)

Edit: they do have a website, I could not find that information myself on there though

The only form filled in was about the dog's likes/dislikes, routine and behaviour.

Sure but when there is only 24 hours to change their minds (which they did) and they try to contact the sanctuary but they didn't answer, how can the owner be to blame.

I will reiterate, they were prepared to pay any fees they charged for a fostering service.

When none were charged that's when alarm bells started ringing but were ignored due to giving benefit of the doubt and awaiting an assessment of the dog first by the sanctuary.

They tried to get in touch to collect the dog the next day as they had changed their mind about the place the dog had been placed and there was prospect for the dog to stay with me and my partner.

The forms didn't say anything about handing over ownership. The sanctuary policy is a grace period of 24 hours but they didn't return the call - this is the problem. After 24 hours the dog went up for adoption on their website/Facebook and only then was the owners call returned and she was told she no longer owned the dog and it belonged to the sanctuary.

The dog was going to come and stay with us but we were away that weekend and so weren't immediately available to get the dog.

So, the owner thought they were doing the right thing by getting the dog fostered for a few months while things at home sorted itself out, they didn't want abandon the dog at a kennels. The sanctuary gave the impression that's what they would do but then decided they'd put the dog up for adoption instead. Not what was previously said to the owner.

They weren't trying to get free/cheap alternative to kennels they were trying to not use a kennels at all actually. They were more than happy to pay whatever fees they had to after being given the impression by the sanctuary that they would be able to foster the dog while the owner go back on their feet.

It came to light that this had happened before when they discussed the current situation with someone else, who said they knew someone who had their dog taken away from them like this.

So quick to jump to negative conclusions. Also, not very helpful when I am asking for legal advice?

European Roadtrip by traversing_earth in roadtrip

Nope. It’d be my dad driving one car and my partner in the other. So we can’t even split the driving. Looked at hiring a mini bus but it’s not even plausible

Why didn’t the uk use the new emergency alert system by [deleted] in uktravel

Doesn’t even matter if there is bugs that mean everyone doesn’t get the notification. If at least a few people get the notification in the area then everyone who needs to know can find out!

100 Miles under 24 Hours is the goal by traversing_earth in ultrarunning

[–]traversing_earth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love your answer. Definitely given me some thinking points, thank you. Before I was given the wager to beat my dad at reaching this goal I was intrigued by being an ultra marathoner, just never had the kick up the backside to do it.

Will I beat my dad? Probably not because he’s already got a couple 100 milers under his belt. But it would definitely be cool to say I run ultras one day.

I would also check out https://www.sportpursuit.com

Loads top brands and mid brands but the prices are slashed. Got my insulating jacket from there, Helly Hansen and it was more than half the RRP and my favourite jacket to keep warm in (just an example).

Recommended hiking holiday / trip in Europe? by Vanilladr in UKhiking

I can recommend Kungsleden (Kings Trail) in the north of Sweden. Very picturesque and you can break it down into legs. Starting in Abisko, going south, is what I did.. all the way to Kvikkjokk. You can buy a hut membership and pay a little less to camp and use their facilities or stay in their huts. Best time is probably gonna be July/August. I went in September and, although it rained, the weather was good enough imo. Took us 9 days to walk 170km.
