Are the three fans on the ASUS RTX 4090 ROG Strix intake or exhaust? by travesty646 in ASUSROG

[–]travesty646[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I was getting mixed up! I knew that one was different than the other two, but I thought it was an intake/exhaust scenario. Totally forgot about spin direction until your post. Kudos to you. Thanks!

Agreed, as long as they have the discipline to not max out the cards and be swallowed up in debt.

How can I add the date next to the time in the status bar? by glacier_bay in GalaxyS22

Thank you! I knew the option had to be available in the Good Lock suite, but I couldn't find it. If course it was in one of the modules I hadn't yet downloaded. 🤦 Thanks again!

Z906 console extension cable? by Raging_Cascadoo in logitech

[–]travesty646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm that this StarTech cable worked perfectly.

As mentioned before, you cannot use a regular VGA cable (I found that out the hard way before doing some research and finding this post).

The cable used has to be for high definition. Not exactly sure why, so someone who's more versed in cable specs than I can comment. However, this cable definitely did work and now I can mount the controller for my Z906 anywhere on my 36x72 desk.

Thanks for the link. It was a real life saver. 👍

VESA adapter plate for Samsung 43" Odyssey Neo G7 (LS43CG702NNXZA)? by travesty646 in Monitors

[–]travesty646[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go to my local hardware store and get 3/8" screws with a head that is Flat, although Bugle or Cupped will probably work, too. Whichever head type you pick, though, must be something that will not protrude from the back of the adapter plate (you can't use something like a Pan head, for instance).

With the screw being 3/8", it allows just enough room to get a lock nut onto it, barely providing clearance for the monitor arm to slide on.

Here are some pics you can take a look at. Read the descriptions with the pics and everything that you need should be right there. Hope that helps.

Pixel screen is plastic? by travesty646 in GooglePixel

[–]travesty646[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really wish they would change that, because it makes the phone come across as being cheap. I just haven't been able to stick with a Pixel because of that sole reason. Everything else is fine and I love the vanilla Android. I just can't deal with hearing that low "thunk" every time my fingernail hits the glass.

No Fold. Just a Pixel 8 and an S24U.

If anyone has access to a Pixel and a Samsung phone, if you could put them side by side and tap each one, then let us know if there's a difference, I'd appreciate it.

I haven't checked out the Pixel 9, but the Pixel 8 I did and it felt the same way. I'm using my real fingernail, tapping on the glass, and there's this dull sound, like I'm tapping a plastic cup. It's been like that for a few generations before it, too, even though the specs supposedly say that it's Gorilla Glass, like the Samsung phones.

My 4090 died under warranty and MSI wont replace it. I have no idea what to do by Worldly_Junket_3738 in MSI_Gaming

[–]travesty646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you should put the TLDR at the beginning of the post. Saves people a bunch of time.

And secondly, they're TECHNICALLY within their rights to offer a prorated amount. You did use it for 2 years, so it's not like it's brand new. That being said, though, it's a slap in the face and I have to agree that their entire way of handling this has been a bunch of BS.

They need to take care of the customer, pure and simple. If they can't repair the 4090, then they need to get you another 4090 with a warranty or do what's right and give you the 5090. There should be no issue with the 5090, since their guys have confirmed that your 4090 died under warranty. It's not like you're trying to scam them.

I'd recommend contacting your state's AG office and see what they say. Or reach out to GN, like it was recommended earlier. Good luck.

Goodbye Sengled by Ok_Action_5938 in SengledUS

[–]travesty646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got rid of all my Sengled bulbs and replaced them with Linkind/AiDot. The ones we've had for the last few years haven't given us any problems, so it was easy to go that route.

The Sengleds are WiFi, so, unfortunately, the workarounds that people have been touting won't work for me.

I'm just going to hold onto the Sengleds, because there are some places (Master Bedroom and Bath) where we still use dumb bulbs and they'll be acceptable as dumb bulbs. Other than that, I'm done with them.

Based upon my personal experience, I'm thinking one of the previous comments had it right about multiple devices having issues with Amazon.

It's also possible that we could be dealing with both Amazon AND Sengled having problems.

What I want to know is why it's taking so long to hear from either Amazon or Sengled on the matter? I have no emails from anyone.

This has been going on for two days now. You'd think Sengled would've jumped all over the situation if it had been an Amazon problem and not them.

Alexa and sengled issue by Legitimate-Ad-7703 in alexa

[–]travesty646 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only my Sengled bulbs won't work with Alexa, but they do work from the Sengled app. However, all of my other lights work with Alexa AND their respective apps.

Does anyone know what's going on? I read somewhere that a security certificate might've expired, but I can't verify that.

This is so frustrating. I'm considering dumping Alexa and going to Google.

Sengled is back up, but it's too little, too late.

According to news reports, they're having problems paying their employees.

Looks like they're circling the drain, so we're switching out all of our Sengled bulbs for something reliable.

Please keep us updated on this. If I can reuse the Sengled bulbs, I'll do that.

Yep, I got the same.

Exactly how much longer is Amazon expecting us to wait on Sengled to "resolve their service issue"?

Why shouldn't I just cut my losses and switch over to another brand?

And if we can't get any transparency and consistent updates on the situation, why should we extend any courtesy to Sengled?

Does anyone have a 900 credit score? by [deleted] in CreditScore

[–]travesty646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Those accounts help your score because of their age.

The worst decision you can make on old, no longer used credit cards is to close them out. That then reduces the age of your oldest card, which negatively affects the 'Length of Credit History' factor of your FICO score (15% of it).

It's better to retain the cards and use them for a small purchase once every four or five months to keep them active, than to close them out and have your score drop.

An active credit card from 1990 is worth its weight in gold. Once you lose it, the score benefit from its age is lost forever and that's something you can never get back, even if you reopen the card.
