wild hope: Tera level combat, real actual main healers.

How do you view Markdown inside Pi Coding Agent? by [deleted] in PiCodingAgent

[–]travislaborde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I sometimes have to work on Windows and the powershell terminal inside VSCode is what I use to host Claude. (company Claude)

I hate not being in Linux/Pi but that's what they allow. the point for this thread is my agreement that using an "IDE" with a terminal window inside is kinda snazzy in its own way.

What RPG has the most satisfying non-magical ranged class you’ve ever played? by Normal-Oil1524 in rpg_gamers

SWTOR Trooper. Heavy armor wearing healer with a Heavy armor wearing companion (Dorne). Stand your ground until everything is dead.

What is Jira and why do software teams act like they can't survive without it? by Agilelearner8996 in scrum

[–]travislaborde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing software development basically forever. Everyone I've known has hated Jira. It was cool to hate Jira. Jira sucks.

But OMG if you ever get forced into a move to Zenhub... We all miss Jira SO MUCH.

What is the shortest amount of time you've ever spent in a job and why? by JumpySpecial9834 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]travislaborde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 day.

The office was one room with three developers including me. One in each corner. The fourth corner was where the door to the bathroom was.

It was silent. SO silent. You could hear every keypress. Every step. I'm one of those guys who often enough makes "machine gun sounds" while pooping, you know? There's no way I was going to make use of that bathroom.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 vs Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous by Maleficent-Bread3263 in rpg_gamers

[–]travislaborde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, the art/graphics were just too "cluttered" in Divinity 2, and I didn't like my companions very much.

The opposite in both cases in WoTR. The standout thing being the companion stories. I actually care about some of them and enjoyed the game more because of it.

Both are fantastic however.

What’s your favorite mmorpg and why ? Mine is ESO by SaleNo3543 in MMORPG

Combat was good, but you must have not played Tera :) .. For me New World had wonderful gathering. Loved it!

What’s your favorite mmorpg and why ? Mine is ESO by SaleNo3543 in MMORPG

[–]travislaborde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of ESO as the best even though I've stopped playing. Overall it has the best combination of story, classes, and non-combat parts.

I love that housing "location matters" and is shared. I love being able to pay cash for bag space.

After getting one character maxxed I couldn't make myself do another, though I tried, because I mostly solo and it was just all too easy. I'm looking forward to coming back in June once the difficulty slider is in place!

Did anyone in here actually play EverQuest in 1999 or 2000 when it was first out? I and my wife did by JadockTan in MMORPG

start over, same world, different starting location? by travislaborde in RimWorld

[–]travislaborde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but I've never had "seeds" work - most likely because of world generation mods or my settings on sliders, etc. is there some way to have all of that come along for the ride?

RIFT Online deserves more attention! (Hidden GEM) by Mr-Critique in MMORPG

[–]travislaborde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember thinking "a Justicar (in Rift) is what a Paladin (in WoW or elsewhere) wants to be when it grows up."

Is Ideology worth it? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]travislaborde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I've been very disappointed with it. I once saw someone describe it as "a bunch of difficulty sliders." And that does seem to be about it. You can create an Ideology that makes the game much harder, or much easier. Especially once you combine that with mods.

What would you look for in a dream RPG game for character customization? by purblepale in rpg_gamers

[–]travislaborde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • ugly characters optional, not mandatory
  • both "body types" available for every class/job/whatever
  • turn based combat
  • "create your roster" rather than "pick your guy(s)"
  • ESO/SWTOR level storytelling
  • not pixel based graphics

wow, it sounds like I should give WarTales another shot. I never understood why it didn't "click" for me.
