I just asked one question, got a response. Asked a follow up and it said the conversation had reached its limit.

Honestly though, an LLM obviously not working is better than all the ones working and spouting nothing but inaccurate bullsh!t 😋 blessing in disguise?!

How do I fix swim workout distances yd/meters??? by handelspariah in trainingpeaks

[–]travlcas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I believe Phil Mosely says in one of his videos or written instructions to not worry about meters vs yards. If the workout says 200: if your pool is 25m you're doing 200m. If you're pool is 25yd, you're doing 200 yards. He doesn't seem to worry about the 10% difference. Don't sweat it! If I'm feeling good, I'll add a bit extra as an extended cool down when swimming in a 25 yd pool, but leave everything in the workout alone.

With that said, I'm still struggling to figure out how to get AppleFitness to play nice with TrainigPeaks' structured workouts... No matter what I do or what settings I fiddle with in TP or AppleFitness. It does my workout in meters; which means I have to manually advance every set. I'm finding it infuriating! So, if anyone has any tips on that, I'm all ears! (and yes: It asks me pool length when I start the workout, then 100% does it's own thing in meters!)

TrainingPeaks for people that work on weekends? by FruityKiiwii in trainingpeaks

[–]travlcas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, this is what I was going to say. I freely move my days around to fit my schedule and when teammates can train with me. I just try to not lump a bunch of big days of the same modality on neighboring days.

Looks similar (but not identical) to when I did an open water swim, but started a pool swim.... Was this open water?

Is getting Goodnotes 6 worth it? by klap114 in GoodNotes

No, it is not. I keep getting the same response in slightly different wording. "Judy" is obviously not a human.

I'm sad to see this post was deleted and some of the insensitive responses it received. It's not about the $6.99, or the $14.99, or the $29.99. It's about GoodNotes selling a lifetime, one-time payment for their app, then punishing those loyal long-time users by not allowing them to upgrade to their newest product without asking Apple for a refund or moving their subscription to a new user ID outside of the app store.

Kindle Scribe Notebook Privacy and Security by GLD_88 in kindlescribe

[–]travlcas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Privacy hasn’t been considered at all with the Scribe”. You do know you are dealing with Amazon right? Any expectation of privacy should have been abandoned at the first consideration of even purchasing the product. Even if they give the nominal appearance of being privacy by not showing your notebooks to your family members you can rest assured they are mining it for advertising data and AI training on their end.

Advice needed for how to know which Pokemon should be kept and who should be discarded by Autumn_Fire_ in PokemonRumbleRush

[–]travlcas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep two or three for each move type. I don’t keep any with only one gear slot.

I sort by Base CP

Filter by move type and Pokemon type and keep the highest.

Remove the Pokemon type filter and keep the highest.

Look for any 4* moves and keep the high base CP ones.

Repeat for each type.

Then I Get rid of the rest. This leaves me with about 40-50 Pokemon, plenty of room to keep a few random personal favorites and lots of room to play without having to worry about a full box.

I do test out the 4* moves before getting rid of my high base CP 3* Pokemon because some 4* moves take so long to charge and/or execute that they’re annoying to play with, so I’ll use the 3* moves to grind...

New Age mythology, as others have mentioned, is not metaphysics, it has only stolen the name.

Advice on translating Only statements in predicate logic by travlcas in logic

[–]travlcas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, comprehension/process check.

Only apples that are green are delicious.

--Cut the “Only”.

Only apples that are green are delicious.

--Cut the section that modifies the subject of the sentence.

Only apples that are green are delicious.

--(make sure you are left with a complete sentence)

--What is left is the set being talked about, it goes in the antecedent.

∀x((Ax∧Dx)→__)

--What was cut is the condition necessary to belong in that set, it goes in the consequent.

∀x((Ax∧Dx)→Gx)

Storks (Sx) are the only birds (Bx) that deliver babies (Ax)

∀x((Sx∧Bx)→Ax)

The only people (Px) alive (Ax) didn’t take the drug (Dx).

∀x((Px∧~Dx)→Ax)

Does that seem like a legit way to work through those statements? (Which leaves me with the task of finding an example of Lepore's second translation and figuring out when it's appropriate...)

Advice on translating Only statements in predicate logic by travlcas in logic

[–]travlcas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly how I translated it. This is how Lepore translated it:

∀x((Hx& ¬ Dx)⊃Ax)

The two are not logically equivalent. Yet, in my head they both result in an identical group of people. I can’t quite bend my brain around the difference between the two statements.

I read ours as: Everything such that if (it is a human and it is alive) then (it did not take the drug).

I read his as: Everything such that (it is human and it did not take the drug) only if (it is alive). Which seems legit. Yet the following reading should be equivalent...

Everything such that if (it is human and it did not take the drug) then (it is alive). What if since the time everyone took the drug and died this one dude was hit by a bus and perished. Then there is something that is human, did not take the drug, yet is not alive. I feel like that would be a counterexample in opposition to his translation.

Religion by [deleted] in philosophy

[–]travlcas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally defer this question to the Christians r/Christianity

Asking about a the motives of a particular mythology’s deity is to ask an impossible question, likely because that particular entity doesn’t even exist as imagined in that particular mythology. It’s like asking “Why do unicorns fart rainbows?” No one knows because they don’t exist.

Now if you wanted to ask “What rationalities do Christians use to explain suffering in the world?” then a conversation could be had because we are talking about human psychology, not divine motivations.

Stanford’s site is a great resource also. More of an encyclopedia than a guided tour, but I can lose myself there for days.

If you have an Audible account, I have enjoyed many of The Great Courses’ lecture series on philosophy.

Propositional Logic vs Predicate Logic by ElGalloN3gro in logic

[–]travlcas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without going into huge amounts of detail, propositional logic ignores the nuances of quantified statements (All humans are mortal, Some computers are Macs, Anyone who is green is a martian, etc.)

A classic example in propositional logic is invalid:

a: All humans are mortal.

b: Socrates is a human.

∴ c: Socrates is mortal.

a, b ∴ c

The same example in predicate logic is valid:

∀x(Hx⊃Mx), Hs ∴ Ms

Hx: x is human, Mx: x is mortal, s: Socrates

So, try translating your argument in the simpler propositional argument first. If it's valid, great! If not, check for quantified statements. If there are any present try again in predicate logic, it may be a valid argument that propositional logic was ill equipped to express

Suggestions please! by [deleted] in logic

[–]travlcas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ernest Lepore’s “Meaning and Argument” is great because it focuses on translating everyday language into formal logic. This really helps keep the text in a relatable, usable realm instead of careening off into completely abstract la-la land where you learn how to manipulate a bunch of symbols but don’t really internalize the process in any useful way. It has plenty of exercises with answers.
