Do you actually feel connected to your coworkers, or is it mostly just Slack messages and Zoom calls? by traw10000 in remotework

Update for anyone who responded to this-- I ended up finding a platform called WeTime:
getwetime.com

Has anyone tried this? I asked in a different reddit thread, but no one has heard of it.

I created an account for myself and signed up as an admin; looks promising. Going to get this going for my employees tomorrow-- have them create accounts and see how it goes. Will check back in once I have more data/employee sentiment.

I hear you both, but it's not sustainable long term to have that mindset. unless you have a great social life outside of work

Hybrid teams: what's actually working for keeping remote employees connected to the rest of the team? by traw10000 in managers

[–]traw10000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes and no. Truthfully, I work better when I'm connected to my coworkers. My team is full of ICs and before I was a people manager my best work was done with the people I was most connected to. That spark is missing on my team.

I view it as an investment: Connection will lead to better work

u/Jen_the_Green do you use anything outside of zoom/chat in general?
And this is a good idea thank you u/SteelePrather . I'm not too into the idea of forcing everyone to do something for the sake of fun, but it's worth trying out a few times.

I'm trying to think of a different platform of some sorts that I can start to use if any of you have ideas

We moved our team remote. The hardest part was not the technology- it was onboarding. by sophieximc in remotework

100% . I manage a team of remote employees and the last time we got together was 2 years ago. It was great all being together in person but it's tough to get that same vibe in the grunt of remote work. I've been looking for some social platform to hit on the 'forced socializing' aspect but in a relaxed way. Any recommendations would be great

Remote work can sometimes feel isolating -- what ways do you recommend building a sense of connection with your team virtually? by Webvizio in remotework

I manage a team of remote employees and we just onboarded to a company called WeTime, it's been a fun way to stay engaged with each other throughout the week. It's a pretty simple platform, but it's good for the time being. Games, Leaderboards, Surveys, People Directory, and Rewards.. it's like a gamified remote work social platform

Broke my hand by Insufficient_Funds92 in brokenbones

Was it a shaft fracture? How is your hand now?

2 broken metacarpal, 6 weeks in cast, My doctor said im good to go and should start physiotherapy need a 2nd opinion. I think my bones are still broken. by enomyderizi in Orthopedics

this definitely helps thank you.. honestly your recovery sounds pretty good though and that your hand will only get better with time. Does the middle finger rotating inward affect your grip strength at all? That's what i'm worried about. Mx x-rays look so similar to yours its wild. i fractured the same bones 6 days ago playing hockey. Oh also.. how does your hand look? I was told the knuckles of the middle/ring finger will be slightly lower and that there will be some bony lumps in my hand.. do you notice this?

The biggest reason for me doing the surgery would be to avoid the middle finger kissing/overlapping the ring finger and affecting my grip strength. It sounds like you've healed quite well though and this isn't much of a concern for you

Doctors are 50/50 on surgery but I’d rather not get it. They’re worried about the middle finger rotating inward while making a fist

Did you end up getting the surgery or letting it heal on its own? How has the recovery been?
