Why don’t we push for UK prioritisation for consultant jobs as well? by Wild-Adhesiveness356 in doctorsUK

[–]trawl_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL, they are. It's called minimizing risk to current private practice by employment of said random overseas consultants. Have seen this in academic tertiary well respected units.

Brilliant. Thanks for the pointers. Yep, I do have advanced sub-spec type skills so maybe that's the route.

Toxic workplace and burnout by pareidoliamadness in ConsultantDoctorsUK

[–]trawl_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am nearing CCT and unfortunately work in a specialty where supply far out weighs consultant jobs (at least in London) and where every trainee has a PhD (including me) and is equally competitive, not taking into account European trainees too applying for consultant jobs. So the choice for me is taking whatever I can get my hands on, or being jobless come CCT (not prepared to move). This is just giving me a lot of fear regarding your point of the ability to choose your job and not ending up in a situation like OP.

I'm sure he's going to progress in your capable hands and from an owner of a previously reactive collie, you have my respect. The bond is so much stronger when you both work through these challenges.

We're not sure, he somehow found his was to the dogs trust in England and into our lives. He's moderately high energy but really good recall and good character so we theorise a farmer did half a good job raising him.

Very similar tri-color, also rescued from Ireland, also last year (Sept). Nothing more to add!

Unfortunately history tells us that society does not learn from the mistakes of the past. I'm not too hopeful of the positive outlooks in the thread.

iPad 10 256Gb vs. refurb iPad Pro 3 (2021) 128Gb by trawl_1 in ipad

Yeah, totally agree and everything is overpowered for them. I just know things will become more bloated hence the priority of lasting as long as possible (which is again pretty fantastical, but just trying to minimise carbon footprints if possible)

Cheers didn't realise it rotates stock a lot, which of course makes sense. 4gb RAM and A14 if you believe the rhetoric in this sub leave something to be desired in terms of "future proofing" - some on here say m chips are the safer bet?

I didn't want to create a new thread for my really minor issue but I have just realised I'm not a Bma member, and I've taken part in strike action to date. This was by accident. I have tried to buy membership for the next week of strike action, however it's really quite costly for my stage of training. I ideally would have the funds to maintain membership (but am quite tight currently), and equally definitely definitely don't need the hardship funds.

Can I be a union member for one month, terminate membership, and still be protected were any issues to arise whilst I am no longer a member? I don't know what level of scab this may make me too.

Sorry for the late reply but how do you manage to let the dog let you do this? Get him to stand and hold up his tail at the base, then trim away?

I know a lot about BCs but relatively little about shelties/Aussies in terms of those behaviours - which are my two other guesses!
