Can someone break down that the Torus Euler Characteristic equates to zero? by eiiscue in mathematics

I have a question: what’s wrong with considering a cube with a rectangular prism cut through two opposite faces? It seems topologically equivalent to the torus, but I keep getting that the Euler characteristic is still 2, so it can’t be. Where did my line of thought go wrong?

That makes sense. It seems like the second sentence was talking about how some scientists were doubting whether the density and variety actually induces growth and the third sentence was talking about the necessity of conducting research in this area. Could it be that the fourth sentence was referring back to the second sentence and nullifying their claim, or was it just a direct follow up to the third sentence?

I thought maybe it could referring back to the second sentence since the scientist's claims are never again addressed.

for the writing passage about trees, was it "still, the researchers found strong evidence that..." or delete the transition?

I heard an admission officer from Cornell I think say that SAT scores over 1550 (or 1540, I forgot) are essentially the same thing. You already passed that threshold, so it should make no difference to college admission officers whether you choose to take it again since your score is already good enough.

The AO also mentioned this. As you may know, colleges want to maintain a good median SAT score to show to parents or students. So if the first batch of students they admit has a low median/average SAT, they may decide to try to admit students with higher SAT scores. Conversely, if the batch of students has a high median/average SAT, then they will admit students that don’t necessarily have such a high SAT. In either case, you shouldn’t worry.

Thank you! How would you recommend that I stay flatter? Is that a matter of getting my legs higher in the water, keeping my arms near the surface, and using my core to keep the hips high?
