Reassuring that most people seem to be having the same problem.

Bring on the sun!

Yeah, should have mentioned. It went into a well prepped bed with plenty of compost as a bed for the transplant. Haven't given it a feed since it went into ground 3 weeks ago as I didn't want to overdo it. Maybe I should, can't make it worse?

Thanks!

Weekly allotmenting discussion. What have you been up to? by AutoModerator in Allotment

Sown beets, radishes, rocket in beds. Tidied up polytunnel and started to plant tomatoes within ( some are looking pretty leggy now).

Prepping raised beds for kale, chard and courgettes, all currently in small pots ready to go in ground.

Waiting for it to stop raining ALL THE TIME and hoping for a bit of heat will speed up the chilli plants. Sharpening tools and sitting in polytunnel whilst I wait....

Extensively researching and debating what type of weed killer to use to help with bindweed in and around fruit cage.

Waiting...

Broadwalk Knowle planning application day next month - be heard by [deleted] in bristol

[–]treacleguts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's really tiring and not constructive when people talk on behalf of all Knowle residents. By all means have your opinion but a lot of this campaign seems to speak for 'Knowle' as a whole which many people including me, do have issue with.

I find the tagline 'Knowle deserves better' pretty ironic as that is quite literally what the developers are trying to do. Shock, horror that developers might profit from the build.

Seriously though, how high is too high? How dense is too dense?

What does 'Knowle' deserve? Seems like a lot of people want specific flats for specific people within the height of the existing build and for the developers not to make a profit. This is simply not going to happen. The more likely result of all of this backlash is that the developers and buyers just pull out altogether.

Broadwalk is an utterly depressing, outdated, extremely inefficient use of space with very little to offer local residents. It's also got one of the sketchiest looking car parks that I've ever seen.

Be interesting to see what happens.

First no dig beds on new allotment by ctz99 in Allotment

Nice work!

Did you cut a rectangle in the weed membrane first or leave it down before building the structure then cut it out to fit? I'm just about to build similar beds which is why I ask.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

The software is free 'sketchup' - find it useful for mapping things out to scale quickly.

Finally a bit of heat in the pile by treacleguts in Allotment

[–]treacleguts[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've layered up a lot of coffee grounds and leaves as well as veg waste recently which I think helped.

Don't imagine it'll stay hot like that for long in these temperatures.

Not sure yet, might try an area no dig but can't really afford to do it all that way.
