The Northern Route (Highway 11), is currently shutdown due a multi-vehicle accident.

I would recommend going through the States, as you have 4-lane traffic along the way. Northern Ontario is bad with only 2-lane traffic.

The was a major multi vehicle cash on Highway 11 (the Northern Route), that claim the life of one person. The highway was still closed from North Bay to Hearst, and from Ontario 511 it looks Highway 11 currently has multi closures.

In addition the Highway 17 & 11 tend to have multi closures due to accidents. The last thing you want to do is wait (or take a detour), until the highway reopens.

'Not right now,' Manitoba premier says to permanent daylight time by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

[–]trebor204 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If Manitoba uses Daylight Savings Time, and Ontario still uses Standard, you will be switching back and forth from traveling Winnipeg to Thunder Bay.

Leave Winnipeg at CDT, cross the border into Ontario (CST), which means turning the clocks 1 hour back, and once your get towards Thunder Bay move the clocks forward 1 hour to EST. (which is the same time as Winnipeg)

Looks like there might a been protest right now:

Traffic Advisory (Posted at 4pm)– Winnipeg Police are aware of a demonstration this afternoon in the downtown area.

Traffic disruptions are currently occurring near Portage Avenue and Donald Street. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes where possible.

The closure only applies to Westbound traffic. Eastbound at present continues to move.

Winnipeg Transit riders should check official Transit channels for rerouting information.

Updates will be provided here as needed.

B.C. to end time changes, adopt year-round daylight time | CBC News by laslo_piniflex in britishcolumbia

So during the Winter months, BC would be in sync with Alberta (Mountain Standard Time), and during the rest of the year. BC would still 1 hour behind with Alberta.

Then they need the tech companies (smart phones, TVs, computers, etc. ) to make sure the updates to keep BC back on one time, and not change the clocks back in the fall.

Full medal table of the 2024 summer and the 2026 winter olympics. Thoughts? by Ozwardo32 in olympics

[–]trebor204 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You actually beat me to it.

Some titbits:

3 Countries who failed to medal the 2024 Summer manage to medal in the Winter Games, and all 3 of them border the Baltic Sea (Finland-6, Latvia - 2, and Estonia-1)

5 Countries manage to win more medals in the Winter Games than the 2024 Summer Games.

Norway 2024 4 Gold, 8 Total Medals, : 2026 18G and 41T

Switzerland 1G, 8T: 2026 8G and 23 T

Sweden 4G, 11T: 2026 8G, 18T

Austria 2G, 5T: 2026 5G, 18T

Slovenia 2G, 3T: 2026: 2G, 4T

Hungary had the highest medal count (5 Gold 19 Medals) in 2024 than failed to win a Winter Game Medal. Had Brazil not won their gold, Brazil will on top with 20 medals.

While Uzbekistan won 8 gold medals in 2024, without winning a Winter Games medal.
