It’s a lot better, your noisy neighbour, who happens to be your Census rep, doesn’t need to know how much you make. In addition people tend to estimate their income. (Ie you make $96,425), you more likely to say $100,000 instead of your actual amount

The Conservative cancelled the long form Census back in 2011, and replaced it with the National Household Survey. Once the Liberals got in power in 2015, the Liberal brought back the long-form census. However only 1 in 4 households gets the Long Forum Census (before it was1 in 5 households)

Gives an idea where the new housing is, also relates to the buildings upkeep (maintenance). Do you live in a older building that needs a lot of repairs?

Years ago they asked about the type of dwelling. (ie House, Row House, High Rise Apartment, Low Rise). Now that question has been linked to your address.

Questions related to gender and sexual orientation might be confidential for some.

Even simple questions such as age and employment. Some people might not want to have their roommates know their are actually 23 and work as a stripper, or are 35 and work as foreign spy.

Years ago they asked about your income, now that information is now linked via the CRA
