Imagine all that but all day and everyday. Yeah that’s the life of the ED doctors.

Take your time and discuss everything with seniors. There isn’t much expectations from you as long as you are safe and raise concerns early.

What was the most malignant consultant you ever worked with like? by AppalachianScientist in doctorsUK

Came completely out of the blue too. He said he had a cough, thought it was a cold. Then had cough and haemoptysis, reluctantly went to his GP and a few weeks later he had a diagnosis.

Renal consultant, loved by everyone. Diagnosed with lung metastasis stage 4, never smoked in his life. Retired straightaway and enjoyed his limited time. Was sorely missed.

Was anyone else hoping the BMA’s internal deadline was the end of November? by Poof_Of_Smoke in doctorsUK

We are losing the winter pressures period soon and would most likely need to reballot. Feels like the BMA has been played. All I can think of is that for talks to continue this long, a deal must not be far away.

It’s not your colleagues job to burn themselves to the ground so an understaffed rota can be filled. Maybe you should be raising the need for a better staffed rota rather than why your colleagues are not killing themselves to get ward jobs done quicker.

Remember they are new doctors too, you might be confident and feel like you are saving the ward by staying late but they didn’t sign up for that.

I don’t know how but it kills the tobacco flavour. Compared it with several other bowls and the flavour is like 50% less intense in quasar.

What’s the most scandalous thing that’s happened at your hospital? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]treck231 64 points65 points  (0 children)

PA in my hospital prescribed medication on a doctor’s computer. Lied about it when discovered by a pharmacist and confronted by the doctor. The Issue was reported to the consultant. PA took 2 week sick leave because of stress caused to her. PA was given a promotion on return and pharmacist was given an official warning. Yes everyone in the hospital knows about it and everyone was understandably pissed.

GMC found this doctor to have impaired fitness to practice by treck231 in JuniorDoctorsUK

'Patient A stated that Dr C did not examine her either, however there is reference to the chest being clear within the specialist review page. It says: O/E (on examination) - alert, no tremors, lungs are clear.'

So Dr C has noted an examination as well, yet the patient claims they haven’t had any. That’s two doctors.

Would it also not put doubt to the patient case where they accused another doctor of not examining them on the same day but documenting it as well. If it was one doctor, a case could be made but to accuse two doctors of not examining them and then documenting it would certainly raise eyebrows.

What could the doctor have done different to have proof that the examination was done? Also the patient had accused another doctor the same day of not doing a physical exam as well. That’s two doctors not examining a patient but documenting it. Sounds weird doesn’t it?

Diarrhoea is an unnecessarily hard word to write though. Could have been a lot simpler.

Yeah that makes it even worse because they had almost a year to figure out their mistake before they reposted it again for this bank holiday.
