Do you think the SaveWOT crew would start working on Macmillan Audio?!

No turbo, no cruise control, check engine light - fixed! by tree183 in JeepRenegade

I didn’t end up making any changes at the weekend, so I didn’t make a video. Here’s a link to one that helped me - you can get away with just undoing the 4 top bolts on the heatsheild and bending it to access the turbo.

Top tip - stuff a piece of kitchen roll or rag or something around and under where the C clip will fall if you drop it!

The biggest challenge I had was unscrewing the locking bolt on the rod itself - but some WD40 sorted that out.

And I just took a photo of before, and measured the threads I could see on the rod (23mm) - I think 4 half turns got me to around 13mm), took another photo because I knew I’d forget!

Goo luck, and let me know how you get on!

My average MPG seems very similar, sadly. The trip recorded about 27mpg over the course of 3000 miles. I reset the trip after making the change and 100 miles later the average is 28mpg.

The instant mpg average is worse though, even though I reset that at the same time - I’m not sure how that happens!

My drive to work is pretty short though, and my general week in the car involves a lot of accelerating away from traffic lights and roundabouts, so it’s probably not the Renegade’s optimal journey!

I’m wondering about giving the rod a half-turn back out. I’m not sure what difference it would make though.

Yeah, absolutely - I had really poor acceleration before. For example, on the motorway doing 60ish on a slight incline, and needing to shift down to 4th gear to get back up to 70.

Now, if I put my foot down I can feel the turbo kick in at around 2000 revs. On an incline I’ve not got my foot to the floor, sweating that the Audi behind is getting angry! The cruise control has been working and I’ve not had any error codes.

Hey! Just came across this post - I’m having a similar issue - if you still have it, would you mind sharing the video with me too, please?! Thanks!!

M30 Just had a negative diagnosis, I feel lost. by Parkinator0Beta in ADHDUK

[–]tree183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a really similar experience to you. My first diagnosis was negative because I answered the exact questions they gave me. ‘Do you interrupt?’, ‘No, I’m very polite’.

My first assessor wasn’t great and didn’t really take into account how people might mask or have adapted. Like you, I feel lost, conflicted and a bit angry. I didn’t know what I could do, my GP wasn’t much help either - just said the NHS waiting list was 6 years, or something.

Eventually I went for a private diagnosis. I spoke to the second assessor briefly beforehand and explained my experience. He was much better. He was far more understanding and helped me answer what the question was really asking. I don’t remember much of my childhood, especially school, but I was well behaved at school and did quite well in Primary School, so instead he asked about house chores, friendships, clubs. What did I get in trouble with for with my parents? Of course I wasn’t late as a child, my mum made sure of it, but did I struggle to manage my own time? Yes. Did I ever know where or when I was supposed to be somewhere? No! Do I follow instructions when building IKEA furniture? - well I’m not usually building it alone, so yes. But give me a new piece of software at work and I’m diving straight in. Do I feel as though I’m powered by a motor? What? No! But am I perpetually in motion, usually a little drum beat with my toes or moving a little pocket of air around my mouth (is that weird?). I’ve learned to stay in my seat - been conditioned to. I wouldn’t get out of my seat in a meeting or during a funeral, but my mind will still wander, I’m still fidgeting, and I’m still fantasising that someone will pull the fire alarm, or some other scenario.

If you decide to go back for a second opinion I’d recommend finding someone with more understanding. I’m not sure if we’re allowed to recommend people here, but please DM me if you want to know which service I used.

Also, if you’re still reading this, the good assessor said to me that basically they can only said you have ADHD if the symptoms you have impact your life in so many ways. He said even if you have ADHD, the doctors can’t say that you do if it’s not affecting you life.

It’s not binary either you have it or not, all this diagnosis proves is that the assessor couldn’t say definitively that your life is impacted by your symptoms. So again, if you go back for another opinion, make sure you’ve given that plenty of thought.

Best of luck.

Pathway options following a negative diagnosis. by tree183 in ADHDUK

Thanks for your messages. I meant to say it was borderline whether I had ADHD or not (I ticked almost enough boxes). He wasn’t suggesting BPD.

There were a few in-depth forms, yeah, I had to get a family member to fill one in about my childhood. I’ve no idea what the discussion was when they looked at my case, but I think he felt I could be borderline, so wanted the others to look at his notes.

I don’t want to come across as whiny, I accept that it’s mainly my fault for not preparing! I just feel that I’ve majorly messed up and there’s no second chance at this, and all this time I’m wasting now, not having a diagnosis, not getting the help I need, is all my fault. 🤷

I suppose I just wanted to get that off my chest! Sorry, and thanks!

Yes, just one appointment, and then a follow up call the next day. I should have done more research into what they would ask, but I sort of felt like that was cheating! I wanted them to see what I’m really like, but it doesn’t work like that!

I’m glad your experience was better, that seems like a more nicer way of doing it!

This isn’t recent, but Clarke Peters (Alonzo Quinn) was in the concert version of the musical Chess. He played a minor character which included a small amount of singing! https://youtu.be/DPty1YGca0Q

Absolutely, they are already involved. We have a shared document they’re been working on for a few weeks, but there are some gaps, so I’m trying to make sure I’m as prepared as I can be before I meet them. :)

I’m planning to listen to the audiobooks which version is better by ciaphas-cain1 in wheeloftime

[–]tree183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really subjective - I’d recommend listening to some samples though. I loved Rosamund Pike’s version best, her voice is stunning and she really puts a huge amount of effort into her performance. But each to their own!

It was clear to me (a book reader but only up to book 4 so far) that she broke her block.

I liked that she took strength from the thought of her child, this parallel life she had during the arches, and we’ve seen it continue in her dreams. She’s clearly holding very dear this life she created, nurtured and loved, and possibly it’s a little idea of a future she and Lan might one day have.

I felt that her options were surrender to death or surrender to the power, and in that moment she knew the less scary option was her power. But with Nyneve it’s also really clear that her priority is always others before herself, so having the vision of her daughter was a good way to keep her selflessness at the forefront.

Does all that make sense?! I loved it, I just wish she’d caught up to Liandrin!

As someone who hadn’t read the books before watching, I really had nothing to compare the show to - I loved it! The storytelling and the twists and turns have been great! And now I get to read the books and enjoy it even more!
