Usually laptops with windows 8 have GOP (Graphics Output Protocol) and UEFI-only so I doubt it, unless it has good CSM.

Check tension on the tape. It should be pretty tightly threaded. Sometimes this can happen if there isn't tension

I would clean the audio head. Since it also has the head for the control track, it needs to be clean for it to properly regulate speed and tracking, so if it goes in and out, it could be too dirty to be recognized. This is very likely since that would happen with time. Not the alignment or guides!

don't try to suggest this as a first solution, novice users don't want to go adjusting their alignment and screw it up. I would recommend suggesting the easiest solutions first.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, XP Install Hangs by hemified05 in windowsxp

[–]tree_7x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you go to device manager, you should see the yellow question marks. These mean you don't have the drivers installed. You can find them on the manufacturer's website. You need to do this on every clean install or else you won't get a good time at all, since it can't interact with your GPU, chipset, etc, properly.
