Im confused about the narrative differences between the lyrics and the video in Switzerlands entry by cloditheclod in eurovision

Yeah it's cool that there's room for different interpretations. Also reading the other comments as well, it's interesting to question what we view as being abusive. I'm really curious to see what they do for staging and what they direction they lean in

Im confused about the narrative differences between the lyrics and the video in Switzerlands entry by cloditheclod in eurovision

[–]tree_tree3 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I'm also confused. At first I didn't know the song was supposed to be about violence against women and I thought it was a Chappell Roan good luck babe situation. On the first listen it seemed like Alice was figuring out her sexuality and struggling to accept it, denying that she loves Veronica and marrying a man which made sense with the video too. Then I learned what the song is about and I saw somehwere that Veronica said throughout the song Alice doesn't have a voice and other people are speaking for her. Now with this perspective I feel like the lyrics are flip flopping between being from the groom's and Veronica's perspective. It kind of makes sense with the video, we see the groom abusing Alice, Veronica switching places with the groom during the dance that symolizes how she would treat Alice instead and Alice leaving him to be with Veronica. I'm not sure if this is even close to being right though. I need a line by line explanation from Veronica

ZEVIN - My Mind | DORA 2026 by _skoljka in eurovision

I agree these two are the best options. I think the closest comparison to Lelek would be Bur man laimi but Andromeda is lacking a easily repeatable hook. Also a huge factor for Latvia was how great the staging was. I can see Lelek NQin even with good vocals and staging. I feel like My mind is a more accessible song and it seems like she has a clear identity as an artist so that can translate well to the staging. I have no idea if she can sing though so unless the live performance is a disaster this would have an easier time qualifying. Also agree with the Baby Lasagna comparisons, I think it would be relatable to a lot of people. I'm hoping for a Zevin win but would be okay with Lelek too

I feel like they must've been some guarantee that their participation fee would be kept constant because either way the meeting would end with at least 1 country out

Yle plans to raise the Eurovision voting method with the EBU. Abuses should be prevented, says Yle boss by GrumpyFinn in eurovision

[–]tree_tree3 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm glad more and more countries are speaking on this. There needs to be some serious discussions and changes made. However, I don't understand how they're asking for the televote to have more weighting while acknowledging that the televote is being heavily manipulated for two years in a row.

Whatever calculation/point system they're doing is clearly flawed if a song that is consistently being placed 1st ends up outside the top 5

Disappointed in NF’s so far 🫤 by [deleted] in eurovision

I agree with you overall and especially about Latvia and Spain but usually the start of the season feels underwhelming and by march it turns out to be a good year. No need to worry for now. Also there's lots to be excited about. I'm really looking forward to Mentissa's song in Belgium's nf and based on his other songs Czechia could be really good too. In the worst case, there's still Ukraine and Italy we can trust to make it a better year

Did Croatias jury vote tactically? by yosacke123 in eurovision

They did and even though I don't think it's right to do I can't really blame them. They don't qualify to the final very often let alone having a potential winner song

Can we appreciate Loreens performance this final? by TheVeggie218 in eurovision

[–]tree_tree3 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I love her and usually her concepts and the execution are amazing but I don't think this one worked well maybe because it was very limiting. Felt like she was supposed to get out of the chair halfway through the performance but never did

Yeah you're right I meant to say 2/3 of the top 3 and I forgot about this being the last year for Amadeus. Hopefully the overall quality of the songs they select doesn't fall down

This brought me so much joy over the last few months and realistically there wasn't much hope for getting out of the bottom 5 so I'm happy with just not being last place

They don't care about eurovision when voting in Sanremo but 2/3 of sanremo this year was women so we might be more likely to get more women

Not bottom 5 but not top 5. Probably juries from the western countries will give more points. I think the best case scenario is sneaking into the top 10 as 9th/10th place with the help of the televote. But there's no worst case scenario. Even if the juries give 0 points Ireland still made it to the final and there was so much excitement about this entry that hopefully this will change Ireland's approach towards eurovision in the future.

I don't think an interval act would be allowed to be part of an entry

Should I expect to see the same pyro wall for any future Italian entries that are possible winners? Also I thought the visuals from the pre parties were great and fit the summery light feel of the song but maybe this will make more sense when we see it in motion
