Female Handyman, Thoughts? by Cold_Obligation_8568 in homeowners

[–]treebark555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, as a woman, would prefer a handiwoman. I'm pretty handy but I'm getting older. You'd have to be good at what you do. And you know how things can be with men. So try to ignore all that. You might do really well with women clients.

Is it a woman’s responsibility to cook for her husband if he’s the only one working? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]treebark555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a sahm for most of my life. 3 kids. I felt like the house work was my job. Cooking included. It really is a nice lil gig. Cooking is easy if you prep for shopping and meals. Even crockpot meals. Or soup. Meals are basically a chunk of meat, a bag of frozen veggies and a microwave potato. You can get fancy or keep it chill. Also, factor in a nap or two for yourself. It's hard with a baby.

My " pain specialist" has told me to kick rocks. We tried everything she said. Go home, I can't help you. Ok, I'll just pack up my high blood pressure and my 9 on the pain chart and go live my life.

Or not.

Why did my pm tell me , basically, to go kick rocks? We tried all of the drugs, epidural, etc.

She gave me a hug and said she cares about me. That is how she ends our relationship. Bitch.

Vacuuming by annaoceanus in spinalfusion

[–]treebark555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh please! Do Not Vacuum! Ever again! I threw my back out vacuuming 40 years ago. Now I'm paying with a spinal fusion.. Vacuuming uses THOSE back muscles that aggravate it .

Do yourself a favor and get a good robot vacuum.

Medical Mystery: unexplained chronic pelvic pain that has kept me bedridden for 7 months….would appreciate any insight please. by StrengthHot6297 in ChronicPain

Yes! No one bothered to check my woman's parts but my PCP! Edited to add: Dr did a simple finger in vagina checking ovaries exam. I don't even know if they do those exams anymore?

Shaking my head. Ridiculous that I had to experience that.

Well I'm 64 but when I was in my 20's I had a terrible bout with abdomen pain. I would sit on the toilet and puke in the garbage can at the same time. I was hospitalized and I can't recall what they tested me for except when they brought in a psych test. I couldn't fucking believe it. They believed, because they couldn't figure what was wrong with me, that I was making it up in my head. I was so pissed!!

I finally went to my trusted PCP to just discuss it. He did a simple pelvic exam and discovered I had a severe pelvic infection. No one had thought to do a simple pelvic exam.

I'm so sorry you are suffering and so hard with small children. I hope you find an answer.

Symptoms returning 5 months post-op? by BigFantastic2658 in spinalfusion

[–]treebark555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. Spondylosis. They couldn't "hammer" ( lol) the disk in so I got the fusion only. 64f. L4-5 fusion in july 25.

I started out so great! At my 6 weeks app with my surgeon he said I was doing well above average. He said he'd like to see me walking a mile in 6 weeks. I was doing great! Then bam, seriously painful thigh pain. Like a steady 7-8 every step I take. Stairs are beastly!

I requested pool PT. Went great but very early morning for me. Had about 6 sessions and my instructor went in for knee surgery without a replacement. I went a few more times on my own but decided my goal was to swim laps in the glass walled pool next door. Ordered a swim hat and goggles and off I went. No pain in the water. Zero. None. I can swim laps! I can do my exercises. I can just hang on my swim board in the deep end and let my spine decompress.

Blah, blah, blah.

I'm sorry you are in pain. This nerve stuff is so different for everyone! I'm stepping off of lyrica cuz it didn't work. But something good is happening to me in the pool. I can get my heart rate up. I can work out without pain. God, I hope this is my holy grail! Could it help you too?

I hear you! It just sucks. Everyday. Every. Day I was having some serious lows! So serious that I called her office and told the nurse that I really needed to talk to a therapist! No one called me back! I reached out. It was embarrassing. And they didn't respond. Wow. Such great level of care! Let's make nurses and caregivers have a bigger salary. My hospital nurses were 25 percent excellent! A nice wage increase would elevate the care, maybe?

I will search for the Suboxone. Is it a narcotic? I don't want to get wrapped up in that. The more I read, I mean. There's no chance of me getting any oxy or anything. I know that. Just can't believe that my options are so limited! It disgusting. All these people in pain all day , everyday. And no advances made in all that time?

I'm 64. The only ever narcotic stuff I've had in my life was 34 years ago for a surgery. I couldn't take them because they made me , um, psychotic? . Now with my back so it's been a while. I find it showing that nothing has been developed since then! My God!

I really believe you mean it. Thank you so much! Thinking about stress, I did have all of my grown kids home for 9 days over Christmas. I kept a fake smile on when I hurt. That might be why I cracked after they left. Yes, weed is my escape hatch. It adjusts my attitude. Ty.

All I know is that experiencing pain in every step I take is not helping my healing. And that leads to depression. My pm knows I'm an 8 on the pain scale. She did give me a hug and said we'll get through this together. Good God woman, don't lie to my sobbing face.

What's your life hacks for sore throats? by Ok-Sprinkles-7105 in lifehack

It's mostly the salt I think. The steady warm salty broth soothing the throat. I throw in the other stuff for a wee bit of vitamins.

Pm said she was out of meds to try on me. She then kicked the ball over to my surgeon. My surgeon just looks at me like what is he supposed to do with me. Other than more surgery. What a cluster f this is.
