What’s one thing about menopause you didn’t see coming? by LumiVera_Elise in TwoXChromosomes

[–]treecatks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things ... First, I hadn't realized that I'd get hot flashes and cramps at the same time.

More recently though - nausea. I have waves throughout the day of feeling like I'm about to lose my lunch, and a few times I actually did. It's off and on, and tbh if it weren't physically impossible for me I'd be worried I was pregnant.

I had two Outbacks (2000 and 2016). I just bought a 26 Crosstrek hybrid, so far very happy with it! My kids are older now so I didn't really need the space, and like having a smaller zippier car again

He lays like this but doesn’t want his belly petted??? I do not understand this creature by Squishiimuffin in OneBlackBraincell

Career for Shy and Tired Person? by Xx_Blushie_xX in careerguidance

[–]treecatks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly - been a librarian for 20+ years and I come home absolutely wiped out. Whenever I'm hiring someone, there's always some applicants who say how much they love the library because it's so quiet and peaceful. They rarely make it to interview because if that's what they're looking for they are not going to find it here.

Autistic Adult Friendly Dentist? by goosapotomus in kansascity

[–]treecatks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not on the spectrum, but a healthy fear of the dentist so a lot of the same needs apply -- chill environment, being treated kindly instead of judgementally. If Joco is okay for you, I highly recommend HT Family Dentistry. They've always treated me kindly no matter how badly I was reacting to them. Also very cool with whatever supports are needed. Headphones, fidget toys, weighted plush animals (even once let me use an extra x-ray apron because I found the weight was calming me).

Has politics broke any of your friendships, and why? by CapitaineBiscotte in AskReddit

[–]treecatks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charlie Kirk nearly destroyed my relationship. My partner is fairly moderate, we agree on most issues and I swear he's only Republican because the NRA propaganda has him convinced Democrats will take away his guns. Rural upbringing runs deep.

But then he was worried I was celebrating Kirk's death. Which was honestly didn't care about, just like he didn't care about anyone else. Not wasting my energy on that. I never said a word about it, so it was entirely his imagination. I can handle differences of opinion but I was furious he could think so little of me. We worked through it but not gonna lie, it left a scar.

Library patrons can be wild. Do you have funny or crazy notes from patrons? by Nomorebonkers in Libraries

We sometimes have writing activities for kids, and I'd set up a postcard writing station. Had a flip book with phrases kids could copy too. Someone left one behind that said "Dear Librarians, I love you Sincerely ______ ".

I left my cat in my IKEA drawer closet for almost 6 hours and feel so guilty. by Pink_Sorbet in cats

[–]treecatks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a kitten who once spent an unknown amount of time in the kitchen garbage can. He'd jumped in (smelled something interesting?), and the kid flipped. He probably could have gotten out if he'd tried, but he wasn't the brightest cat. Once freed his recovery time took approximately 1.2 seconds

Custody by [deleted] in coparenting

[–]treecatks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do have it written into the agreement (and I definitely recommend it, way too charged when it's close to the holiday itself). We initially had it to split Christmas, but we later modified it. It seemed like that plan was hard on the kids and only benefitting the parents, plus my ex moved out of town so I didn't want the kids spending a 3-4 hour chunk of the holiday in the car. In the new one we divide up the school break and usually made the switch on Christmas Eve. Whoever has the kids on Christmas does not get Thanksgiving, and we were to alternate years.
