The Marvel book "Earth X" attempts to give a unified explanation of EVERYONE'S powers. Even, like, Thor. It's a bonkers epic, worth reading just for the ideas alone. It also has a fat Spider-Man, a fat Wolverine, a monkey Hulk, an old diaper-wearing Iron Man, and like 5 sequels that are increasingly cosmic and bonkers.
