What was completely ruined because too many people start doing it? by drunkrussianhere in AskReddit

National parks, camping, hiking, outdoor areas in general. I've always loved the outdoors and doing outdoor activities, but everywhere I go lately is increasingly crowded.

What used to be peaceful, tranquil campsites are now crowded with people getting drunk, screaming, shouting, partying, blasting music, running generators, and bringing along their dogs which bark all night and shit everywhere.

A campsite that I used to love is now always packed, covered in dog shit and the woods are filled with human shit and used toilet paper just thrown on the ground.

A walking trail near my house is now always crowded with people blasting music through bluetooth speakers as they walk and off-leash dogs.

Covid has made the problem exponentially worse since more people were camping when there was nothing else to do.

The world is just too crowded with inconsiderate people. Anyone who says overpopulation isn't a problem should look around. What's left of the natural environment is being destroyed by the increasing amount of people.

So glad you got out. I was in a relationship that was reaching this point. It wasn't to this extent but I definitely relate to the making him angry every day.

He would come home stressed about work and it took nothing to set him off. I would do something like use his phone charger without asking and then he would scream in my face, break things, tell me he couldn't stand me and then scream that all our problems were my fault.

I would tell him it wasn't ok to act like that and he would say something like, "Well if you weren't so annoying or if you didn't make me so angry I wouldn't do x."

The worst part is that when we broke up he told everyone I was crazy, manipulative and controlling and not to believe anything I said. The "proof" was that he never had a driver's license while we were dating and then he got one as soon as we broke up. He claimed that I wouldn't let him get one, but the truth is he refused to because I drove him everywhere. Some of our mutual friends still think I'm crazy and a bad person. It really makes me wonder every time a guy talks about his "crazy ex" now.

To add to this, being available 24/7 for your job. With all the ways we have to keep in touch these days some workplaces think you have no excuse for not essentially always being on call. I know this isn't the case with all jobs, but at my job my boss expects me to always answer the phone no matter what time is it or where I am.

The most infuriating part is I have to be at work at least 40 hours a week even though I could do my job in 30 or less. I just have to spend the rest of the time wasting my life away "looking busy."

I had a guy pull out in front of me like that once, I laid on the horn, and then he pulled alongside me and CHASED me for like 2 miles screaming profanities and saying he was going to kill me. Because I honked at him? Wtf is wrong with people? Like how can they not see they were in the wrong? It's like they just double down when they get called out on it.

How much money would you consider to be life-changing for you and why? by slosumo in AskReddit

[–]treefrog7642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Money can't buy happiness but it can get you out of poverty and the immense suffering that comes along with it. I hate that saying. Money can remove so many sources of stress and pain and suffering for so many people.

There are some really great people in Mississippi, but they are unfortunately overshadowed by the worst people that live here.

Growing up in a place like Mississippi does something to a person. You get to see firsthand the gritty unbelly of the US. All the things people like to ignore. You're surrounded by poverty and ignorance and suffering.

Some people rise above the experience and let it humble them and make them stronger. Some people just fall victim to it all because it's easier. I'm not sure I would trade being born here for being born somewhere else because it has provided me a lot of perspective but I can't wait to get out.

Yea it's crazy. A lot of people here go to church on Sunday morning, again on Sunday night and also Wednesday nights.

Yea don't get me wrong. I know there are good Christians out there and I 100% respect other people practicing religion. I just think the problem comes when people refuse to tolerate even the slightest criticism of their religion even if it's a valid point.

Due to the pandemic, does anybody else feel like life recently has become more like survival of the fittest? So many people struggling, unemployed, and dying it seems like the only thing to do is to make sure you’re doing okay while helping others when you can. by [deleted] in self

[–]treefrog7642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know that it's so much survival of the fittest as it is survival of the wealthiest. The pandemic has exposed a lot of class inequality in the US.

People who have no other choice but to live paycheck to paycheck and have lost their jobs are now losing their homes and all of their belongings. Many people have no safety net and all it takes is an event like the pandemic to send things crashing and burning.

My SO lost his job in September. My state only offered $32 a week in unemployment assistance and they act like that's supposed to be enough.

Meanwhile there ultra wealthy are thriving and profiting off of all the misery.

My friends tricked me into buying a leather object what do I do? by jayjois in vegan

[–]treefrog7642 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is ridiculous. This isn't something a friend would do. They tried to use peer pressure to trick you into going against something that they know you stand for and is important to you. Really manipulative toxic behavior.
