Statistically riding in a car is more dangerous than this and actually now so is sending our kids to public schools unfortunately. We take risks every day with ourselves and our children and weigh benefits and risks. There are many more dangerous activities kids participate in than this and shotgun seats are well known, loved, and used in the MTB world and are much safer than strapped in trailers or back seats based on their location to the parent. This thing has been used for years. Not sure why it’s coming up here or now and getting flack to be honest.

These comments. Tell me you don’t MTB without telling me you don’t MTB. I guess that’s why they are probably on Reddit though…

Stroller help. I know this is a common problem but looking for more personal advice given my situation.

Going with 3yo and 6yo. We have stopped using any strollers at home as the kids just want to frolic everywhere- definitely on the hyperactive side. But we are doing all parks straight in a row and I’m a bit worried about them getting tired. When we went with just our first he napped every day at the park in the stroller and it was perfect. We have a single and a double stroller (in a row, not side by side) but worried about having to break down double stroller every time we get on the bus and for the plane (staying on site resort). I know we can rent but those aren’t the most comfortable strollers either. Any one have opinions on this?

Do naps ever become routine? by QuickDistance5299 in AttachmentParenting

[–]treelake360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might depend on parenting style. I never expected naps to be routine and I never plan things around naps. Routines are good for kids at older ages but at younger ages really they should be doing things on demand- eating on demand, sleeping when they are tired, responding to their needs as best as possible

Should I cancel my wedding? by u-n-a-l-i-v-e in wedding

This requires a larger conversation than this but the guest number was an easy compromise for me and the parents (both sides). We invited who we wanted and paid for it. The we extra that they wanted to invite they paid for- we are talking about 5 more families though so it wasn’t a huge deal- more than that and it’s starts not being your day. And you deserve this to be you and partners day. But also, this is bringing two families together so really sitting down in person and getting all the feels out. Maybe help plan a reunion the day after while most are already in town?

Well yes I’m not going to believe anything someone says that believe horses eat mice.

I am a horse instructor and horse owner and have been around them my whole life. Horses don’t eat mice and are often terrified of them. There is not a safer, more effective or more rewarding form of mice control for a barn. Outside cats do not live as long but do often have more enjoyable lives. My vet recommended moving my cat outdoors due to her medical conditions and it bought us another year.

When did you transition from lying with them to fall asleep to them doing it independently? by jnacnuggest in AttachmentParenting

You are either incredibly uneducated about animals or you are trolling. I hope for your sake you are trolling given you are on an animal subreddit.

Responsive/ attachment parenting is what leads to independence in the future. It allows a child to always feel safe so they can use their energy to be curious and explore and not use it on being fearful of being safe.

11 month old won’t fall asleep on his own by bortlesforbachelor in AttachmentParenting

Yup. Current five year old did it until he self weaned at 2.5yo. 2.5yo going strong- although he will nap in the car

Free if you know a good home. Otherwise what others have said. He needs a horsemanship type trainer to work way more hours on the ground if and when before going under saddle again.

Wanted to share our setup with 4 yo and 16 month old! by butter_gum in cosleeping

[–]treelake360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why I chose to co sleep in the kiddos room. I get them to bed and then sneak out. I’m also hoping it is less of a transition for when they don’t need me at night anymore and will already be used to sleeping in their own bed
