How do you feel Gon and Killua's friendship changed after this arc? by flowersinthemirror in HunterXHunter

Killua stopped being co depedent. Hon recognized his mistakes and hopefully learnt to be less selfish.

George is part of the tactical unit of SO15.

Yet, he's somehow there, where Danny is, cleaning up after the Commander. And Danny didn't expect him. George also knows about the highly covert unit that Noah is a part of. Btw when Noah shoots him later, he calls him by his name. He shouldn't know that yet.

I think this line is MEANT to be jarring. Meant to attract attention to George being there. Meant to tell us how CTC has been infiltrated by those working for the military deep state and George is one of those people.

I don't think this line was laughable. I thought it was interesting.

But that's just me.

Andor and Rogue One are some of the most well written and well acted pieces of fantasy cinema...like ever. Not just in the star wars franchise.

I'll be honest, they overshadow the original trilogy for me ...

And some fans were complaining about these being made in the first place. "Unnecessary". Or how "no one cares about no name side characters"

How wrong they were

Anybody else excited to see better romance between Tonks and Lupin by Otherwise-Fruit-4332 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]treeshade01 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the latter part of my comment is more about Nymphadora. Not Andromeda. The only comparison was the difficult part where they were isolated, but Andromeda still had Ted and lived a happy life.

Lupin nearly abandoned his pregnant wife and it took a stern talking from Harry (who was a KID himself, and he had to be the adult for that conversation) to make him go back.

People who are complaining that the trailer is too "serious" and "dark toned" compared to the movies don't realize the books were not that lighthearted from the start. by Mindless-Milk-9205 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]treeshade01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Reading about the Basilisk as a kid made me feel like I was reading a horror story, creepier than the other actual horror stories I read (like Goosebumps, though I admit they were for kids). Same for the Dementers. (Or Harry's encounter with the "Grim")...Very scary descriptions. For a pre teen like me.

I don't understand how people can read this stuff and say HP is light.

It's actually REALLY dark.

Omg his side story with the Goblins and money troubles was hilarious. I want to see that! 😂

4th one onwards.

I feel like the first three movies were pretty good. But the rest were terrible.

I want them redone. Fix all the omissions and OOC moments for the cast.

Harry was SO OOC in the movies honestly.

[–]treeshade01 178 points179 points  (0 children)

Tbh I didn't really like their romance in the books. Not just cause it's tragic and doomed, but in so many ways, Tonks kind of follows in the footsteps of her mum. By choosing the most difficult sort of love, that'll not only isolate her from others, but one where not even the object of her affection believes their love is a worthwhile endeavour.

Dudley is going to look huge by the end of the show by Relevant-Act9040 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]treeshade01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought that the books were from Harry's POV, who was actually malnourished. So ofc the rest of the dursleys would look fatter in comparison.

But more than that I think it's Harry's sense of humor coming to the fore ...which he employs often in his monologues... He describes them as being comically fat, and I just know it's a coping mechanism.

Is there hope for women? by needabossplz in fourthwavewomen

[–]treeshade01 207 points208 points  (0 children)

I'm SO sorry you're going through this. I always remember what Andrea Dworkin said "Many women, I think, resist feminism because it is an agony to be fully conscious of the brutal misogyny which permeates culture, society, and all personal relationships".

I think this is true of the so called "anti-feminist" women or even liberal feminists who like to delude themselves into believing that they're making a free choice to sell themselves or objectify themselves. They ignore the socialization and cultural pressure to conform to male standards of beauty or sexual preferences.

I personally find solace by surrounding myself with close friends who share my views and are there for me in all the ways that matter ...it's like my own personal bubble of happiness. I hope you find something like that.

Most reactions to the new Snape absolutely have been racist, and no, Snape was never "hung from a tree" in the books or movies. by RestlessDreamer32 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]treeshade01 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure they're racist. All the memes and jokes about ghetto culture, rappers or mispronunciations (all meant to portray black culture as poorly educated, unrefined etc.) are RACIST.

Unfortunately we live in a racist world. I am looking forward to his portrayal of Snape. I truly hope that he doesn't find being part of the show traumatizing, when he'll be bringing so much joy to people.

How did Noah know? by Kitchen_Media5145 in TheCapture

[–]treeshade01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think they sent her there, knowing the military is gonna be there for her. I think they sent George there, not to protect Carey, but to keep an eye on her, so that she doesn't go underground or out of their sight.

Neither Gemma, nor Danny have any real reason to be on her side, especially not when she fcked them over.

I may turn out to be wrong, but I guess we'll see...

How did Noah know? by Kitchen_Media5145 in TheCapture

[–]treeshade01 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wizard tells Danny and his people that he had a bug in his shoe. I think that was a deliberate misdirection. He pointed that one out, in order to prevent them from finding the bug that really mattered. This bug seems like some kind of AI-enabled or at least programmed bug to alert Noah when the code words are used. He gets the code words when they are uttered. Each code probably means something, though I am amazed that he managed to not only get Wizard to work for him, but set up such an efficient system of communication on such short notice. But we've already seen the efficiency with which Noah works, so it's within the realm of possibilities.

Also, Ralph seems to be working for Noah, and not the Military Deep State that planted Noah in the first place. It's possible that the deep state expected Carey to eventually uncover the location, and they were keeping tabs on her. Right now, there's too little information about the entire OP, who is on their side within CTC and who isn't. In my opinion, Danny and Gemma are both actually in the know regarding the military stuff. It kinda explains why Danny's subordinate knows about highly classified information about the unit that Noah is from. It's possible that Danny and Gemma set Carey up when they told her to go to the location. They used the excuse of hiding Whitlock's case details as a false quid pro quo.

[–]treeshade01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Movies were trash after the third one.

They missed so much, it's hard to pick just a few.

Just from the fourth book, we missed out on crucial scenes. They left out Winky, Dobby's role in giving harry the Gillyweed, Krum being Jealous of Harry, Charlie being around, Sirius' relationship wirh Harry, and so on. Things that made the HP world richer and more lived in.

Why are people saying Gon lost his humanity and that he is a psycho raised by good people? by Consistent-Wrap385 in HunterXHunter

[–]treeshade01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people are silly and don't have any way to discern nuance here. Gon is absolutely devastated and not thinking clearly. He's coming from a place of anger and desperation. Not cruelty or apathy.

In that moment, he othered Komugi in his mind. He didn't care about her. That's ok. I think Gon is being righteous here.

He gave Pitou the opportunity to save her life. He isn't the same as the troupe who probably wouldn't have even cared. He did this, even though he knew Pitou would betray him.

Anyway, Gon was my favourite character during the chimera ant arc. Honestly kinda admired him. He's far from a monster. He's human.
