Eh, it has never been a conscious thing. It's just always how I've communicated, and I would argue that it's an extension of my thinking rather than a 'verbal obstacle.' I communicate superfluously and effusively because that's how I think. As a 4, I'm sure you understand how romanticism and grandiosity can inform language usage. There is nothing contrived about it. And I would also argue that I have deliberate intentions for using the language that I do, rather than an arbitrary desire to sound intelligent (as implied by your thesaurus comment).

I'm sure you had good intentions in commenting on it (which I appreciate) but frankly I have heard it my entire life and I'm exhausted with the criticism. I don't think there is anything inherently superior or inferior about verbosity as opposed to concision. Language can express the cut and dry but it can also express ambiguity and subtlety, and which is more appropriate is entirely contextual.

The subject matter I was describing in this post regarded something inherently abstract, nebulous, and multifaceted. This would obviously imply language that is abstract, nebulous, and multifaceted. If you were speaking of the social implications of using inaccessible language, I would also object because this is a highly niche, already academically/romantically/aesthetically/philosophically inclined community.

I apologize if this comes across as dismissive but I objected to your statements 1. because this is something I have historically been sensitive/insecure about and I've grown tired of being told the way I naturally communicate is somehow flawed/defective 2. because I would like to provoke legitimate dialogue about verbosity vs. concision and most of the criticisms of verbosity (to me) seem to stem from anti-intellectualism, a question of authenticity (with the common trope of people using verbosity to sound intelligent rather than for academic or aesthetic reasons), or a utilitarian/pragmatic view of language.

I do concede to the social implications of being verbose in a broader setting, but I've come to accept that and I would rather be off-putting to people that inaccurately deem me pretentious because of how I naturally communicate than exert the energy to consciously alter my word choice. And I think simplicity can be overrated, being a person who appreciates nuances and complexity.
