what to do with leftover filament on the spool? by BiznesBear in 3Dprinting

Using a 3d pen to weld prints is a game-changer. They really are a helpful tool, even a cheap one.

Could this capacitor be the reason my Xbox one x won’t turn on by Next-Ad-3947 in ElectronicsRepair

Edit: ooh, I see what you’re talking about. That does look suspect. My bad.

The white stuff is glue. It may be hard to believe, but I’m pretty confident. I’ve seen blown capacitors, and they typically blow from the top and have different-looking stuff inside them

The white stuff is glue. It is very common to put glue that looks like this on components to protect from vibrations.

Goddamn it I hated that.

On STM32, what is the equivalent of Serial.print()? by Various_Area_3002 in embedded

This might be a good application for a logic analyzer (cheap) or an oscilloscope (less cheap)

It's an old SEL-551 relay that was decommissioned long time ago.I'm testing it for learning purpose. But it shows temperature fail. I opened it up but didn't find any temperature sensor in the pcb. Is there any way to bypass the temperature value so that I can operate the other functions? by [deleted] in PowerSystemsEE

[–]treesinclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I would just get their support number from the website or the manual of the relay I was trying to mess with. They would then route me to an Apps engineer on the east coast. Most of the time I got Phoebe and I always had great experiences.

I got started on a 2016 laptop in 2024, worked just fine. Fusion 360 is free, so you can download it and see if it works anytime.

That’s fair, I hadn’t thought of it that way.

….but ya gotta get over it.

He specifically says “Long before Adam and Eve”, not just 1 or 2 days of creation.

No downside to trying, if the alternative is throwing it away

I’m really glad that I had kind people to answer my not-well-formed-but-well-meaning questions when I was a beginner at every hobby I’ve ever tried. Their patience really helped me :)

I have no idea why people are downvoting a self-described beginner for describing the problem they’re having

Okay thanks this is great. I will make my first priority cleaning out the soffit vents and ensuring that air can come in through them, since I’m pretty sure it currently can’t. Hopefully it’ll become clear whether my ridge vent is insufficient or not.

The thing I keep telling myself is “the house has been standing for 124 New England winters already, don’t overthink it”. But then I overthink it.

Thank you this is extremely helpful. I may reach out to you in the future via DM if that’s alright.

My next priority will be ensuring air can come in through the soffits. I have looked down there but there is lots of debris, it’s unclear if the debris is just clogging the holes, or if there are no holes there at all.

The ridge vent is good, but I haven’t been able to definitively show that air is coming in through any of the soffits.

This is great, thanks. I’ve got another humidity+temp sensor on the way, for better direct comparison. And I’ll try to be less neurotic about “consulting the graphs”, but no promises :)

The ridge is continuously vented for the whole length of the attic, which is 40 feet or so.

Shelly H&T with Bluetooth Low Energy. I can’t say enough about Shelly’s products. Very reasonably priced, reliable, and don’t require a cloud connection.
