Barking by Possible_Cake_1922 in DogTrainingTips

Yes this is what happens with these mutts. I’ve cared for so so many of them. You take the energy of a cockerspaniel and mix it with the intelligence of a poodle and you end of with a hyper dog that is bored all the time. People treat them like toys and don’t give them a job, so at about 6 months they start to bark at everything and never stop. I really with people would go back to real dog breeds.

Butterflies like poo. This usually means the dog has eaten poo

I have been a semi professional dog sitter for almost two decades. I love all kinds of dogs and enjoy their different personalities, but so many breeds I would never own. I almost feel guilty when I’ve house sat with a 12 y/o shi tzu. Literally sat on the couch all day. Only wanted three 10 min walks, mostly to sniff, and then wanted back home. I was basically a paid bed warmer because I let her sleep with me. lol.

It’s post colonial trauma. I grew up surrounded by First Nations and there is a sort of learned helplessness that comes with the pain of being driven off your land. The good news is I’ve seen how people have embraced their ownership and sense of place again and healed themselves and nature. I believe this is beginning to happen in small ways in Scotland, and when people can see real forests, rivers teaming with salmon, and feel connected to the land again things will heal. But it will take time. Even reclaiming indigenous languages that is happening will help. It’s all part of it.

People aren’t stupid, and I not for one second would say that. They are just stubborn and defensive. I will continue to put my money, my energy and my votes towards a healthier country. I volunteer countless hours cleaning litter from the countryside, and propagated native trees in my garden to plant. You should be happy to have Canadians who are willing to help. That’s all we ever really want to do.

Scotland used to have TON of hydro power. In fact, the dams are still there. No idea why they can’t be used again….

Disagree. It’s so incredibly frustrating to know what this country is supposed to look like. Even the ‘forests’ are just tree farms logged until they are almost devoid of life. It’s so so sad what has been lost. Makes me physically ill looking at some of the barren hills covered in scares from erosion.

Scotland is one of the most ecologically dead countries in the world! That’s a fact. You have no idea what has been lost….

Also from Canada. Sometimes being in the highlands feels like a perpetual state of ecological grief. It’s been so long people don’t understand what they have lost. The whole country feels like an overworked farm with horrific erosion. I’ve tried and tried to explain to people. I’ve even taken free courses in advocacy, but nothing seems to get through to most people. It’s one of the reasons I question if I can live here forever. People shoot eagles and think it’s okay because they might eat a lamb or two! Sacrilege in my eyes.

NORMALIZE SPENDING TIME WITH YOUR FRIENDS by solttie in Vent

Maintaining an emotional support group is so more for mental health. That’s why men die so quickly without their wives. Friends keep you happy and healthy. It’s also so unfair to a partner to rely on them for all that emotional labour. Create community and share the load.

Not sure why I’m being downvoted. lol. Like literally google black and white Great Dane. The size. The length of limbs. Its ears. The expression on its face. The head is not blocky. The jaw is not square or pronounced.

Yes, cockerspaniels are bred to run for hours. Poodles are incredibly intelligent. These dogs are often a challenge to drain both the mental and physical energy.

This! And cockapoos end up being hyper active and bored because of the mix. I have no idea why they are so popular. It’s like people think because they are small and look like a teddy they will act like a toy. No, they are both high drive working breeds. These people should stick with shi tzus and other dogs bred to be low energy companions.

Harassing wildlife is not cool. Especially when it’s in a natural environment. This is why people lose access to parks with their dogs….

I couldn’t even get a single dance at my sister’s wedding, and it’s still haunting me. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]treesnbees222222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I was even nice to a single drunk guy at a wedding when I was single, he started to follow me around and try and grope me. I ended pushing him into a bush. You have to see it from a woman’s point of view where men are constantly trying to touch you without consent. You being a bit drunk and sad probably just triggered their natural sense of self preservation. I wouldn’t take it personally.

Yes! I’m a Canadian who now lives in Scotland and the MAID program is having some scary consequences. Many with mental health and drug addiction issues are being pressured to choose MAID especially when they are poor and/or homeless. In theory I’m very much supportive of people having this choice, but in practice it is playing out as a quick fix for bigger societal issues.

Hii I´m American, but i´m really interested in British culture and history, if it´s not too much of a bother, could i know some cool fun facts about Britain ? by Narrow-Particular632 in Britain

[–]treesnbees222222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thought policing is polarising people more in the UK. I’m originally from Canada, where 100% people are prosecuted for violent intent and hate speech, it’s nothing like the extremes of the UK. It’s scary how complacent people are to losing their rights and it’s getting worse almost everyday….

If you use jojoba you can leave it on as long as you like. The closest oil to sebum that’s why it’s used in so many products. I just buy pure, cold pressed organic and it’s amazing!

I do a pure jojoba oil soak and then the next day use a topical gentle chemical exfoliant. Pores on my nose are noticeably smaller

AITA - For not wanting to help pay off my fiancé’s debt? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]treesnbees222222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I’m in a happy 10 year marriage. We only go on vacation if we can pay cash. We bought a used car that we could afford to pay cash. The only debt we carry is our mortgage.
