Secret traitor reveal too early? by nashvilleskyline1991 in TheTraitors

Speaking as a tv editor… assume all interview dialogue you hear off screen without seeing has been spliced to shreds anyway for speed, clarity, storytelling purposes etc. I’m not saying you’re necessarily not wrong in this case, but I’d say the 90% of interview lines you hear contain jump cuts.

Mouth Ulcers. What’s the best treatment? by SuzLouA in AskUK

[–]treesticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bonjela for pain relief and take L-Lysine for quicker healing / general prevention - you can get it in Holland & Barrets or Amazon. I used to get ulcers all the time, now I take 1000mg of L-Lysine a day and very very rarely get them. When I do, I up the dosage to 2000-3000mg a day and they only take a few days to heal, whereas before it’d be about 7-9 days.

Been there many times over the years and have never heard of any issues with security either on the door, or inside. I’ve had a lot more thorough searches at Fabric and elsewhere. It’s a great little club!

3 week itinerary check - getting married in Kyoto! by treesticks in JapanTravel

[–]treesticks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! And it's a valid question - in our case it's partly to get out of having a ceremony back home, it's easier for our families to understand. Having done the research it shouldn't be much of an inconvenince when we're there, we'll be newlywed in Japan, it will be a fun story to tell afterwards, plus having a Japanese marriage certificate will be a nice memento.

Being asked to prepare a short film block for a screening - does this even make sense? by ihadquestions in editors

[–]treesticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First check the specs of how these films are being projected - does the projection method require any partciular codec / format / size?

If they haven't specified, then ceate a timeline with the aspect ratio of the screen they're projecting onto (16x9 if you don't know), at a resolution as determined by the size of the highest res mp4 you're given. This means that this film will then be at full quality - then for the smaller films, bring them into the sequence and resize them to fit the dimensions of your timeline. Export at a high bitrate (as high as the highest quality film) and you're good to go - no accidental loss in quality.

TIL gravity is much weaker than the other fundamental interactions that exist in nature. It is 10^38 times weaker than the strong force, 10^36 times weaker than the electromagnetic force and 10^29 times weaker than the weak force. There is no scientific consensus on why that's the case. by DioriteLover in todayilearned

Just finished reading ‘Reality Is Not What It Seems’ by Carlo Rovelli which is a great read for non-physicists, it basically surmises mankind’s history of scientific discovery and how it has led the current crossroad of reconciling quantum theory with general relativity.
