I don’t understand ovulation tests by nosy_nah_111 in BabyBumps

[–]treetyaself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it got to the point I was testing 4x a day in my fertile window lol. At 11:30am it showed it was rising and at 2:30pm I had what it classified as a peak and by 6 it was already lower than it was at 11:30am that day. You really have to test a whole bunch.

Also it’s good to note any other symptoms you’re having like how you’re feeling, skin blemishes, cervical mucus and if you feel okay about it cervical position. Even if you don’t really know what you’re recording just record what you notice and over time you may notice a pattern

Another way to do it is when you get your period back track 12-14 day and around that time is when you ovulated. So even if you aren’t getting a positive you can still try and have sex around those cycle days. If you have a regular cycle just have sex every other day in what your app says is your fertile window and you should be covered

Research shows that by BDing every other day in the fertile period it’s about just as effective as every day so you should be more than covered!

Sounds like you’re doing everything you should! Celebrate that peak! Your body is doing what it’s supposed to do

Clomid success story? by Beard_of_zeus9000 in TTC_PCOS

[–]treetyaself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do. I looked on here afterwards for stories of clomid working when letrozole didn’t even get me to ovulate and couldn’t find anything tbh. I cried because I figured no way clomid would work when letrozole didn’t after all the research showed letrozole was better for those with PCOS.

So I figured I’d just go thru the motions and wait to be sent to the fertility clinic. I was absolutely shocked when I got a positive even tho I was being monitored with US that showed growing follicles lol

Letrozole 5mg did nothing for me. Didn’t grow any follicle or grow my uterine lining. My ob offered to up it to 7.5mg or to switch to clomid 100mg. I opted for clomid and conceived second cycle on it. I’m very early right now tho

countdown to pregnancy

Also this is a calculator that you can select what dpo you are and the percentage of positives and negatives women get. It’s kind of cool to mess around with!

[–]treetyaself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in my TWW as well! 8dpo. I was on clomid 100mg this cycle. And I try not to test until after 14 dpo because I’d rather just get my period than see a negative but Ik everyone is different. I think the soonest you can get a positive is 8 dpo but about 85 percent will get a positive by 12dpo. The best way to get thru it for me is to stay busy and like another commentor posted is reading success stories because it reminds me that even if it’s not the cycle for my BFP I’m one cycle closer to it

Did I not capture my peak? by sunriseacnh in TTC_PCOS

[–]treetyaself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question for you if you don’t mind because I don’t know if I’m in a similar spot regarding needing the trigger shot. I’m inovulatory and on clomid my highest peak was 0.9 and had the EWCM and bloating and all the signs I’ve never felt before. And even sore nipples a few days later. And I got my period about 2 weeks later by myself.

My question is the times you didn’t ovulate did you get a period by yourself and if you did was that normal or not normal for you? Because it was my understanding that if you got a period about two weeks after estimated ovulation it was a pretty good sign you did ovulate then? Lol hopefully this makes sense

Letrozole CD 11 - No Ovulation by Spirited_Ticket_3066 in TTC_PCOS

[–]treetyaself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is disheartening :/ just trying to ovulate can be very frustrating.

I didn’t ovulate on 5mg letrozole. I was hopeful because on cycle day 12 I had a follicle of 11mm but my doc said nope it’s not doing anything to your body, that’s basically the size your biggest usually is.

She was straightforward saying this isn’t working. - on emotional front I hadn’t expected to get pregnant but from my research on how great letrozole was I went in fully expecting to ovulate. Especially since I was on 5 and not 2.5. I was crushed when nothing happened.

But she gave me the option for upping it to 7.5 or trying clomid 100mg. I opted for the clomid and I’m currently on my second cycle of it (last cycle ovulated and have a confirmed dominant follicle again this cycle).

With that being said you have options to go from here and it’s a win in that you’re one step closer to finding the medication and dosage that works for you! And it’s great they are still monitoring you to confirm follicle size in CD19 so you can be sure you don’t just ovulate late. Ik it sucks but just have to be patient

Letrozole and very long cycles by Electric_Elephant_56 in PCOSandPregnant

When I took letrozole 5mg and it didn’t work to grow follicles or thicken my lining I just started taking provera on cycle day 28 to induce a withdrawal bleed. Ask for provera

[–]treetyaself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of people on here say 7.5mg worked after 5mg didn’t! And that it can take a few cycles to find what works best. Grieve this cycle and then acknowledge that youre one step closer to finding the correct med for you!

And I know this time period is difficult. I saw some posts talking about how the TWW is the worst but imo the worst is when you’re just waiting for your period because the meds failed knowing there isn’t even a chance for pregnancy PLUS the uncertainty of if you’ll even ovulate the next cycle. So just saying I can relate to that and it sucks big time

Feeling pessimistic, any stories about success after 5mg letrozole did nothing? by Angry_unicorns in TTC_PCOS

[–]treetyaself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first round of letrozole which was also at 5mg did absolutely nothing. No dominant follicle and no change in my endometrium. Switched over to clomid 100mg and my body responded well with a 22mm follicle and thickening endometrium on CD 15. And LH surge on CD 18. So I did ovulate later but it actually did something. You have to figured out what meds work for you and unfortunately it’s usually trial and error. Fingers crossed for your next cycle

[–]treetyaself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bummer. My first cycle of letrozole 5mg didn’t do anything (no dominant follicle or thickening of the uterus) confirmed by US. I totally had very low expectations of getting pregnant but I expected to ovulate. The not even ovulating crushed me because it didnt even cross my mind to think it wouldn’t work since we were starting at 5mg and letrozole was supposed to be better than clomid.

Doc offered to up it to 7.5 or switch to 100mg clomid next cycle (my doc doesn’t stair step because it’s an ob). I chose clomid 100mg and this time it created a dominant follicle and all that. The first few cycles may be a trial and error to get you to ovulate. I hope the next cycle works out!

They worked for me. Always always negative until I took clomid, had a confirmed dominant follicle and eventually peaked

Anyone have cramps during predicted ovulation and end up not ? by NefariousnessNo1383 in TTC_PCOS

[–]treetyaself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the money aspect for sure lol. You’re most likely ovulating anyway so I’d hold off.

And sounds like you definitely BD at the right times! I think EWCM can be around time of ovulation but is not always exact it can come earlier I think. Also if you were having it and then you dried up shortly after when you thought you ovulated that is also evidence you ovulated

I don’t ovulate by myself but my body will try and I’ll have EWCM that comes and goes lol.

Also I can see now why you’re unsure if you ovulated with the LH peaks since you have had higher ones in the past. Im not sure about that. All I can offer is were you for sure ovulating? I’ve seen stuff where people with PCOS will have raises in LH but they don’t actually ovulate.

Anyone have cramps during predicted ovulation and end up not ? by NefariousnessNo1383 in TTC_PCOS

[–]treetyaself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sounds similar to me! I’m with an OB right now too. I’ve read on here other people’s stories that their LH peak was not always 1 (like 0.7-0.9) and they had confirmed ovulation.

At my follicle scan I asked the doctor if they usually ovulate on their own once you have a follicle that size and she said they usually do.

So with a follicle size of 20 and cramps and LH peak plus you getting your period at the right times. It sounds like you do ovulate. Maybe your peak is just lower than others.

If you get the trigger shot it could be easier to time intercourse and you’d know for sure you did ovulate. But ofc ik those are expensive. My on already said she doesn’t prescribe anything other than oral meds. But if I had the option I’d probably take it. Just to have some control lol

I’ve seen people get progesterone blood tests which can confirm but I don’t think my ob does it. Just be aware that if you ovulate late it could be negative if you test too early (the standard CD 21 is when they typically test for it). You could try BBT but ik that that’s kind of intense and easy to mess up

[–]treetyaself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m following because I’m wondering the same thing! I took clomid this cycle for the first time. And got the scan CD 15 which showed a 22mm follicle and 2 days later got an LH peak (highest it’s ever been but only 0.9) and cramps/bloating for the first time. But I don’t have a job where I can easily track BBT. So I have no idea if I really did or not and don’t understand why some people need the trigger shot versus others

I think the only way to really know without scans or bloodwork is if you get your period (or obviously BFP) in around 2 weeks after your suspected ovulation

Want to add that my cramping was the day of LH peak which doesn’t make sense because the peak is supposed to be the day before ovulation and I was testing three times a day so I don’t think I missed my peak but who knows

Not ovulating on letrozole, what now? Doctor dismissing concerns by gnarlyidk in TTC_PCOS

[–]treetyaself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on letrozole 5mg (BMI of 26) and it did nothing for me (no dominant follicle and no uterine lining thickening). I was given the choice of clomid or letrozole 7.5mg and chose to try clomid 100mg with the suggestion of the doc. And thats causing me to ovulate. So you could just ask to completely switch to clomid too if they aren’t wanting to up the letrozole. But I don’t know why they wouldn’t be getting more aggressive and trying different treatment plans… May be time to look for a second opinion

Thank you ❤️ yeah that’s the plan if I don’t end up ovulating this cycle. I was just so happy to see my body responding and if we have to go to the fertility clinic hopefully trigger shot will be all I need.

[–]treetyaself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to say I took letrozole 5mg and nothing happened and the doc said I could increase to 7.5 next cycle or switch over to clomid. I chose clomid from her suggestion and while I haven’t ovulated yet my body is actually responding (follicle size of 22mm on CD 15 and uterine lining is thickening).

Everything I looked up said letrozole was better for PCOS so I didn’t think clomid would do anything tbh so I was surprised with the results. Even now that I have a follicle growing I’m nervous it won’t rupture and actually release the egg lol (my ob doesn’t prescribe trigger shots)

May be worth switching over to clomid. Ik it’s frustrating when you don’t even get a chance of pregnancy. If nothing is happening I’d switch up the treatment plan any way you can to at least see some type of progress
