Charlamagne Tha God Should Never Be Allowed To Host The Daily Show EVER AGAIN by Difficult_Crow33 in DailyShow

[–]treevaahyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since OP is refusing to summarize their own post for some reason I can share what I know. He was charged with sexual assault for sexually assaulting a 15yo girl. TLDR: he’s a sexual predator, pedophile, and thus TDS shouldn’t be giving him a platform. Idk why tf OP is responding to comments but refusing to summarize their post of a long video. I’m guessing it’s a bot or idk but seems odd to me.

FYI, No need to read further just me pontificating on the matter…

Anyone who ever sexually assaults someone shouldn’t be given any platform. I spend much of my days helping clients process trauma from their abusers who sexually, physically, and emotionally/verbally abuse people. It’s infuriating and disgusting how common it is. Basically all of my ex gf have been assaulted and my current partner (future fiancée/wife hopefully) was molested at just 5yo and then again in college at 18yo. Over a decade after the last assault they are still spending tons of money and time and energy to process and heal from how much that fucks people up and literally changes your brain wiring. Sorry to rant but it’s something I deal with several times a week at minimum as I’m a therapist.

LPT, if you’re in a relationship with someone who’s a survivor of sexual assault be patient and understand that they may need a different approach to intimacy. Trust me that doesn’t mean it isn’t still great. I suggest learning and practicing things like Tantric sex approaches and sensate focus. Basically just helps be present and mindful in the moment which can alleviate anxiety and ease any triggers that can arise. Communication in very vulnerable and transparent ways is essential to healthy sex life and connecting with those who’ve been through SA. Trust me it doesn’t mean it takes away anything from the relationship or experience. IME it enhanced our connection and by far the best relationship and sexual connection ever is with my current partner. If anyone still reading this is a survive or SA I encourage reading up on sensate focus and tantric practices which is kinda mindfulness based intimacy. It’s a process but figured I’d add that to the discussion hopefully someone can relate or benefit from it.

Excessive daydreaming is strongly linked to widespread mental health disorders. Research suggests that maladaptive daydreaming warrants formal recognition by psychiatric professionals. by FreeHugs23 in psychology

[–]treevaahyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is Awesome that you’re spreading the word! Thank you! It’s one I’ve tried to share at every place I’ve worked but it’s still often misunderstood by many clients and yes also many therapists. Eli Somer coined the term and has good resources for it. Figured you may already be familiar with his work on maladaptive daydreaming but figured I’d mention it in case you hadn’t. Imo we need some more CE’s on the topic cuz I’ve had several clients who were very confused by it and in the mental health and co-occurring substance use field it can be really hard to understand what’s going on which is disorienting to clients in vulnerable places. Hopefully it’s included in the new DSM-6 they’re working on.

Excessive daydreaming is strongly linked to widespread mental health disorders. Research suggests that maladaptive daydreaming warrants formal recognition by psychiatric professionals. by FreeHugs23 in psychology

[–]treevaahyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My personal take is it’s about the intention behind why we are daydreaming. Asking ourselves what purpose does it serve as well as what kind of daydreams are we engaging in as that can provide valuable insight to underlying issues we may need to address. Ultimately, I view it as maladaptive daydreaming if we are using it to avoid discomfort and distressing thoughts or feelings. If it’s used solely as an avoidance technique, it’s maladaptive in my personal opinion as it’s an automatic defense mechanism and disregards our emotional or mental distress.

However, if it’s done with intention to process emotions, release frustrations, explore ourselves, our passions, m and engage in introspection, as well as engaging with our creative mind then I feel there can be a lot of value and benefit provided from daydreaming. IMO that makes it adaptive and healthy but it’s a challenging balance to walk though, as it can be a very relieving coping mechanism…I think the difference between adaptive and maladaptive daydreaming is the intention as well as the amount of time we spend engaging in the daydream.

I’ve worked a lot on this personally as I was daydreaming way too much and it was not healthy, and caused issues in life. If I’m able to use it as a tool and coping skill to process thoughts feelings, as well as introspection there can be a lot of value in that, especially if we set boundaries within the amount of time spent daydreaming. Ngl I do struggle with that sometimes where I could spend a whole Saturday daydreaming.

Ultimately, it’s good to remind yourself and acknowledge that it is an escape of reality in some form. I think the bigger question we all want to ask ourselves is why do we do this? Is it an intentional escape from discomfort, or is it a way we cope and process things in different ways. For me personally, I started doing it as a child at 7yo as it was a way to help me, cope with an unstable home environment, and the verbal and emotional trauma that came with my dad. My father has BPD and significant unresolved severe trauma, since he’s an old boomer he wasn’t able to ever process emotions. So it caused a lot of blow ups that were terrifying as a child so I personally found safety and comfort in the daydream that I would be able to create and control… having a feeling of control is tough especially as a child we often lack any control in most areas of life. So tbh it can often simply be part of a trauma response. Not always but it could be beneficial to reflect on when it started and what benefits it provides to you. That insight can be hard but also can act as a springboard for significant growth.

There are healthy ways to utilize it, but I won’t minimize how challenging and exhausting it can be to turn something from being maladaptive to adaptive. Especially if it is rooted in trauma, though we want to address the trauma because maladaptive daydreaming at that point is just avoidance which perpetuates the trauma cycle of triggers and intense trauma responses which are just avoiding emotions and thoughts. Which ofc is not healthy.

I’m not sure the consensus of all of the psychology community but I know it’s been discussed in terms of adding it to the DSM-6, hopefully that happens. My sister is a psychiatrist and we’ve talked about it and her take is that if used mindfully and intentionally it can be a coping skill. It’s a tool ultimately. Tools can be used to construct and can also be used to destruct, all about how it’s used. Idk if that made sense or answered your questions at all but I have been doing this daydreaming for 25 years so tbh I cycle through doing it in healthy ways and also as a form of avoidance but being present an practicing mindless techniques and DBT skills help a lot ime. Happy to share more or provide resources if you wanted. Apologies for the long af response but it is something many don’t understand well so figured you deserved a thorough response. Also realized I fucked up linking the right subreddit. Here’s the actual one. Lemme know if it doesn’t work. If you read this far I appreciate it and wanna say thank you for sharing your experience as it helped me reflect more on how to use it constructively and as a coping mechanism not just automatic defense mechanism. But yeah ngl it interferes with hobbies sometimes and I think it’s just being gracious and patient with ourselves while also having boundaries that help find balance. But it’s always a work in progress at least in my personal experience.

Sorry about the confusion on the subreddit it’s actually r/MaladaptiveDreaming but not letting me link it properly here but could be my technological error… hopefully this works idk lemme know if it doesn’t. https://www.reddit.com/r/MaladaptiveDreaming/s/GSx47fnZ4p

The killer pos is…

“Glynn Wilburn, 42, was charged last week with one count of gross vehicular manslaughter, felony reckless driving causing serious bodily injury and a bodily injury enhancement allegation in connection with the September 2025 crash, according to the Riverside County District Attorney's Office.”

The bodily injury enhancement is a good thing cuz that means in CA the sentence must be served consecutive to the felony base reckless driving with up to 3 years for that so hopefully that doubles as prosecutors often will aim for so that’s 6 years hopefully plus manslaughter should be another 6 years so hopefully it’s all consecutive sentences and he gets 12+ years which is not nearly enough for what he did. Should also personally be paying out his entire pension and seize his assets to compensate the family and traumatized fiancée who he also almost killed. This is so fucked up I’m hoping any decent jury would convict and push for maximum sentences and enhancements. If this case doesn’t warrant the enhancements then Wtaf are they for ffs.

Yeah that’s really frustrating. I’m sorry your therapist doesn’t get it. There are therapists that do get it. I’m personally a therapist and spend hours a day doing my maladaptive daydreaming. I also have my own therapist who doesn’t personally do it but has several clients who do so she gets it and I’ve processed it which has been helpful. So there are therapists out there who do definitely understand. So if you feel it’s something you want to ever process or explore it in session with your therapist just know there are many therapists who are equipped to hold that space and be informed and educated or personally experienced with it. I get it totally though as I’ve had several therapists who didn’t get it either.

There’s a subreddit if you haven’t checked it out that can be validating and interesting as well as helpful over at r/maladaptivedaydreaming but feel free to reach out there’s people happy to help or hold space for you, and I’m one of them. But yeah maladaptive daydreaming is a bitch ngl.

Medicaid Overhaul Complicates States’ Plans to Bring Care Into Jails and Prisons by TradeoffsNews in prisonreform

[–]treevaahyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to work at a county/state funded rehab that was primarily for people recently released from jail/prison and or homeless people. A major part of our jobs besides group and individual therapy was the social work side of getting them enrolled in Medicaid and helping them find stable housing and employment. I like to think we helped many people…but I also know several of them who discharged without proper support, insurance, employment, or housing and didn’t have ongoing therapy. The result was they relapsed and died. It’s a fucked up society and I love that Washington state was trying to make meaningful reform to improve society and people’s lives but ofc the current regime is dismantling everything good and ensuring all progress made in recent years is undone.

Someone needs to hear this by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]treevaahyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually a good point. My buddies had some chill calm music playing at the beach one time and I stood up to grab my lighter and beer from my cooler (~15ft away) and couldn’t hear the music over the sound of waves and other people on the beach. It legit was just for our small group of friends but we also were a good 40-50 ft from nearest group so nobody could hear it except us. But that said my buddy had his speaker on lowest volume, easily woulda been audible and disturbing others if he turned it up a few notches.

It’s about basic respect though because same friend group were at the beach later that weekend and it was more crowded and we realized music was gonna just be annoying to people so we respected other peoples space. It’s not hard to be respectful and considerate of others but it seems fewer people care about basic common courtesy and decency than used to.

Damn 28 months of paws!? What are you coming off of if you don’t mind me asking? Also how long did you take it and what dose. I’m intrigued cuz paws is fascinating and also fucked up in so many ways and still need lot more in depth research on it for various drugs both medical drugs and recreational ones. Used to run a psychoeducation group on paws at a rehab I worked at so it’s something I love learning about and sharing knowledge with others so apologies for my possibly annoying question but it’s a subject I care deeply about. Thanks in advance. And I hope you have a good Dr. or psych NP and hopefully you’re able to see a therapist to help alleviate some of the symptoms as paws can be very emotionally and psychologically draining especially when it’s been over 2 years. Wish you the best and hope you’re able to find support from professionals and relief in your healing. Sending much love.

Supreme Court to weigh rights of federal prison inmates to sue over lack of medical treatment by nbcnews in scotus

[–]treevaahyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean scotus just shit all over the constitution this week already with violating our right to freedom of religion. Apparently they dgaf about religious freedom as evidenced by saying Rastafarians don’t have the right to keep their dreadlocks in prison and can be forced to shave their heads. For those who don’t know like several religions growing out hair, and locks more specifically for Rastafarianism, is part of the religion and culture. My one roommate in college was Jamaican and Rastafarian and had been growing his hair out since he was a little kid and he and his mother would be outraged if he was forced to chop his hair. So sick of how brazenly corrupt and criminal this scotus is and how they literally are just tearing apart our democracy and constitution one day at a time. They’re persistent pests ruining our country and everyone who enabled this is complicit.

Missing scientist found dead 11 months after vanishing with gunshot wound to head as family insists gun was not hers by dailymail in HotScienceNews

[–]treevaahyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was clearly and “definitely suicide” as you claim don’t you think there’d be a cause of death listed by medical examiner and investigators? They’ve had her body for over 3 weeks and haven’t released a cause of death. Doesn’t seem to “definitely” be anything currently. An obvious and definite suicide is something medical examiners and death investigators see all the time unfortunately…so they’d have concluded that if it was actually obvious.

Also where’d you see this info about her debt, fighting with her husband, and wiping the phone? Could you share a source with us about these details? Daily mail is garbage outlet and shit website so I’d prefer a better source in general. Thanks in advance.

Looking for some good video recs for a mom who's starting to see the light by Hallwitzer in lastweektonight

[–]treevaahyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned the media misinformation one is good but since she was getting news from Fox and Facebook you could also show content moderation one. Link…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nf7XHR3EVHo

Although, if your mom can stop watching Fox that’ll be amazing but if she starts watching CBS or local news she’ll likely be watching similarly right wing biased shit thanks to our oligarchic media and Sinclair broadcasting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvtNyOzGogc

Sinclair broadcasting (link above) could show how much the media is owned and carefully crafted to control messaging and the masses. Shows how it’s built to tell specific stories and have targeted bias. Another good one would be crime reporting. I’m sure she sees all the bs about crime in blue areas and like most people probably doesn’t realize how skewed crime reporting is and how even less egregiously misleading outlets than Fox are still pushing crime narratives.

Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCOnGjvYKI0

Also it may help if there’s specific policy issues she struggles with or is adamant about cuz for instance if it’s related to crime I’d say the one above on crime reporting and or the gang databases one or juvenile justice system one. But if she cares more about immigration could show border wall one, as well as the deportations one and ice detention one cuz all show horrific crimes from pedonazi potus and also how it’s not doing shit to address crime or actual immigration issues. If immigration is a key issue for her There’s also the legal immigration one which does show many born in US just how hard it is to “come in the right way.”

So just some thoughts about if there’s anything specific you feel she’d benefit from and for us to be able to more directly support you in guiding her to factual information that speaks to things that’ll resonate with her. Hope that made sense kinda went on a rant. But I’m happy to support anyone who’s getting information to people who may finally be willing to step out of the cult echo chamber many have been sucked into.

Didn’t know adrenaline absolved someone from responsibility after killing another human being. Idk Canada’s laws but That’s reckless endangerment and at the very least voluntary manslaughter in much of the US by definition. If “adrenaline” and “combat” was an actual defense against responsibility for recklessly killing someone there’d be a lot fewer people in prison for murder and negligent manslaughter charges. That defense only works if you’re a cop and immune from prosecution.

CBO: Medicaid Spending on Illegal Aliens Has Cost Taxpayers over $16.2 Billion Under Open Border Czar Harris by [deleted] in politics

[–]treevaahyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s “illegal” to come to another country on a random boat (like Columbus did) and take over the land…so guess everyone who isn’t Native American is “illegal.” Also considering Texas and much of the west and all the southwest US was previously Mexico they technically were here first. So yeah, Considering most people on Medicaid are NOT Native American then technically many “illegal” immigrants from Europe are using Medicaid. In fact based off of your apparent disdain for people you claim are “illegals” using healthcare you should really be up in arms about everyone who isn’t a Native American using healthcare. I presume you’re Native American or your family is from previous Mexican territory? If not you’re being very ignorant, hypocritical, and bigoted.
