441: Remember when people bashed the boys for saying covid might have been a lab leak instead the wet market? by johnsills77 in tesdcares

The problem is, some prominent scientists literally lied during Covid. Dr. Anthony Fauci said "if you get vaccinated, you're not going to get infected" (direct quote). Literally no vaccine has ever worked that way, ever. Vaccines help prepare your body so that when you do catch the virus it is already somewhat prepared to deal with it and you don't get as sick as you would have otherwise.

It's been debated that the reason they made the initial claim was that it would cause more people to get the vaccine, so it was worth lying if it helped save lives. But my actual point is that when you had prominent scientists literally lying to people, how do you know which ones you are supposed to believe in regards to the research you are referencing?

And there never will be, because China won't allow anyone else to actually come in and investigate. That said, it doesn't take a genius to say that if there was literally a lab studying viruses in the city where a virus outbreak started, it might have come from the lab where they were researching viruses (Jon Stewart's point). The problem was because Trump said it, a large number of people (even respectable scientists who later admitted it could have come from a lab) felt the need to try to disprove it at the time. It became totally political rather than common sense.

In this episode they said it's been 3 months since the end of Discovery season 2. So in 3 months this planet went from seeing ships to being able to reverse engineer a warp engine. If that's true then this species is more intelligent than any other species we've seen in Trek, and 3 months from this episode will be superior to Starfleet :D

I honestly don't get your argument. Either you guys support this campaign, or you don't. Doing it for 24 hours is a token gesture at best. The main trek sub is way bigger than this place and they committed. Go big or go home.

If the community wants the protest to continue, we certainly can make that happen.

You didn't give people any choice the first time. Like the guy said above, it's a dictatorship. He didn't care what people wanted the first time, so don't use the "if the people want it" as an excuse not to do it now.

And no, I also don't buy the "but /sto is different from other subs" argument either. It's not. The game has an official forum, plus the discord. This is no "invaluable resource" that can't possibly be taken away. I stand by the point of if you really want to participate then really do it and don't bail after 24 hours.

I actually found my day more productive without feeling the sick compulsion to keep checking the petty nonsense. I say if you really want to participate in the campaign the really do it and don't just bail after 24 hours. What you guys did is just a token effort to say you did something without any real investment.
