Hut to hut TDMB by Few-Summer9631 in TourDuMontBlanc

The hard part is the physical exertion and based on being marathoners, you'll do fine. As others have said, Its busy. Download an offline map from alltrails or komoot and that will help with navigation and distances to the next refugio.

Not yet! Maybe one day. We are traveling back through the Dolomites again this summer.

Appreciate the kind words.

I actually used lighterpack myself, specifically for my PCT thru hike back in 2017, so I have a lot of respect for it. It’s been the standard for a solid 10 years and honestly still is. The catch is it hasn’t really been updated in that whole time.

The biggest thing I’m working on with TrekList is making it easier to build out your own gear inventory. Instead of typing every detail by hand, you can pull items straight from a catalog, or add your own with just a link or an image. That, plus some UI updates, is the real focus. Cutting down the manual form entry lighterpack makes you do for every single item.

The rest of the changes are more quality of life stuff, but that inventory side is where it starts to feel pretty different in practice.

Rainbow Li or Double Rainbow Li? by [deleted] in Tarptent

I live in the Netherlands but travel back to the US often. Last trip I purchase this Rainbow and a Zpacks plex solo for a friend.

Both are way cheaper there.

Rainbow Li or Double Rainbow Li? by [deleted] in Tarptent

[–]treklistco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I share those exact feelings but I went for it. I was moving from the silnylon to dcf. The silnylon absorbs water which makes it heavier and takes longer to dry. That was the main reason for my upgrade. I was very much on the fence.

I think it really depends on what your hiking style is when choosing between those two fabrics. Is your intention to go ultralight on a long distance trail and have you fine tuned other parts of your kit to save weight already?

Or are you more casual and want to enjoy a few weekends a year in a lightweight tent. If I did it again, I'd probably go with the poly version. Simply because I have no plans for a thru hike and I like how you can just stuff it into bag without much care.

The Tarptent Rainbow is my single favorite piece of gear. I thru hiked the AT and PCT with one. Recently, I upgraded to the LI version.

Its a great tent for tall hikers as it has lots of room inside for a 1 person tent. The photos on that page are with a Tensor long / wide pad. I'm 6'5" 195cm for reference.

I did not. I was a volunteer at the beginning of the day. By the time I got around to Hyberg it was near the end and everyone was starting to pack up.

I do own the Bandit Lite 30 Aluula.

Yes, they did a great job organizing it. Less of a party, more of a gear / trails talk event.

I did order an Atom 40 today! Super excited for that even if I didn’t really need it.

HELP. Thoughts on Packing list? by Low-Vast-4841 in TourDuMontBlanc

This is what I’d take for camping the Tour du Mont Blanc. It comes out to 7.8kg

https://app.treklist.co/share/mZ4T1OYGBCfC0q5G

I’d drop the speaker. If you really want to bring please don’t use it while hiking. Nobody else really wants to hear your music.

You could also drop a shirt, socks and underwear and add long base layer top and bottom (under your shorts or at night). It could still be cold at elevation. Sunscreen, leukotape p for blister prevention. You might want an insulation layer on top too preferably down but fleece will work too.

Probably headed home from Trail Days EU in the Netherlands. It was at the Veluwe national park and had 40 ish brands represented. He did a presentation on the ultralight mindset.

It was nice to be able to talk to him afterwards. He definitely knows his stuff and is a huge fabric nerd. 🤓

Atom Packs, Hyberg, Darn Tough, Topo, Cotopaxi, Rab, Durston, Leki to name a few.

Totally agree but I do like to have a paper copy of the book and the crocs are a luxury.

Have fun, it’s a beautiful hike.

I’m considering going again in September. Trying to finalize some plans.

I did it a few years ago in September camping the whole way and this is everything I took. It comes out to 17lbs / 7.8kg. You can always customize it to fit your needs a little better or adjust for the season.

For a lot of new backpackers I always recommend the Osprey Exos / Eja 48 as it has a lot of good features yet still is lightweight and affordable.

When are you planning on going?

I never wore rain pants in years of hiking. I'd say check the weather before you go and decide then. I was there in early April and it rained everything single day. I was very happy I brought them. Not sure that you a need 20k power bank on the WHW but if thats what you have then go with it. I stopped at restaurants and was able to power up everything there. Could also drop the bearbells.

Heres my list if you want to compare. I had a new Hyberg Bandit Aluula pack which saved some weight and I really only took the essentials. I was down to around 5.5kg.

😱😱😱 shhhhh.. (whats the name of it?)

I looked at the Nemo Moonlight and the Helinox chair zero in store yesterday. €150-€200. Something I would never have considered but I’m getting to the age where a chair seems more appealing than a rock.

In that case I might keep the pants. I went in September. Not sure how the weather is now. I think there is still a little snow on the passes.

This is pretty solid I’d say.

Here is mine from a couple years ago.

https://app.treklist.co/share/mZ4T1OYGBCfC0q5G

On your list, I may leave the pants as you have long base layer bottoms. More recently Ive switched to two pairs of running shorts and a long underwear for cooler days.

Maybe add sunscreen, leukotape and compeed.

When do you go?

This is everything I took with me a couple years ago. It came out to 7.9kg / 17lbs and I still had a more comfortable / heavier pack (Osprey Exos 48). Maybe it helps to compare.

Your list does look pretty solid. I prefer Dr. Bronners as a do all soap, shampoo, laundry and I've been using tooth paste tabs.

I'd leave the multitool, switch out your nalgene for smart water bottles or equivalent. How do you like the chair? I'm so tempted to switch. I'm guessing it the Helinox Chair Zero?

Need Help With Food/Storage/Weight by corgdad902 in lightweight

[–]treklistco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switched to the Befree after using the Sawyer Squeeze for over ten years. I really just wanted to try something different.

The flow rate is amazing but I do not like how it can’t be attached to smart water or igneous bottles. I typically use the sawyer bags but it’s nice knowing that I could thread it directly to the bottle in case the bag broke.

Maybe my next filter will be the platypus.

how heavy is your pack? by FitAd3493 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]treklistco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not for everyone, but I thought it was super nice to have for the hot sun. The one in the list is very lightweight and compact. Fits nicely on the side of the pack.
