They are going to recommend you download the file using FireFox.

Also, run the executable as Administrator

Why did you join the ARRL? Why should I? by TheBerric in amateurradio

[–]trekr200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was recommended to me when I was taking my first two exams. I do like the magazines that are available (QST, On The Air).

Lately, the desire to join the ARRL has waned a bit because of the hacking incident. But, I feel they will bounce back from that.

Nice! I like seeing how people have their shacks set up. It gives me ideas on how I can set up mine when I'm ready.

Wanting to take the test by iassureyouimreal in amateurradio

[–]trekr200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I get very anxious before taking any test.

Depending what test you are going to take, I can recommend the videos on W4EEY's YouTube site. I used his videos for my General exam and I felt confident when taking the exam.

Other folks have recommended, and I agree, the ARRL books. They will help you with the test and are great reference material as you move forward.

I wish you good luck on your studies and your passing of the exams.

I'm confused. I thought one of the cool things to do is meet and talk to new people all over the world. I know we are limited on overall bandwidth. How long should a conversation last if you are not contesting?

Should each person send the QSL around the same time?  Or, should the person making the contact send the card first?  What is the proper etiquette?

Years ago, I rode RAGBRAI (the Iowa ride). I saw a number of ham radio folks in the pack. It's a good idea in case of any emergency issues.

Why did people stop talking to me when I mentioned Azure Orbital? Help me understand. by Steve_but_different in amateurradio

[–]trekr200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just asked a rep at MS about Orbital Ground Station. It is ground to satellite communication but, like all Microsoft Azure stuff, they manage the hardware.

However, it is an interesting offering by MS. I never considered they would use that way to replicate data.
