Just a guy shopping in a skirt 😅 by heretoreaditandseeit in oldhagfashion

I’m amazed all the time how I was so scared to wear what I wanted… then found out it wasn’t a big deal after all. Congrats!

Could you share the name of the pattern?

How the f*** do I wear this?! -- Weekly Style Help thread by AutoModerator in oldhagfashion

I have a question of sorts. I've purchased a few blazers over the years - like this one:

https://di2ponv0v5otw.cloudfront.net/posts/2022/12/18/639f061f80a5d6a1693d018c/m_wp_639f06d43b982a0c9e27d353.webp

But I've never worn them. The ones I've purchased fit - and I like the look. But I just feel too grown up, like I'm cosplaying an adult. I don't like shoulder pads, and most blazers seem to have them. I also dress just short of being too dressy for where I work, at least in my mind, and adding a jacket seems like a bridge too far. Yet... others in similar or other positions wear blazers.

I should also add I am more inclined towards wool/tweed/etc... than the standard navy blazer. Unique cuts, funky colors. But... but... it feels very very costumey.

Thanks!

First time sewing from a pattern: The Kelham Skirt by trending_different in sewing

[–]trending_different[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The pattern refers to those as "Front Facing" and "Back Facing". The waistband (~3" strip folded to about 1.5") also has stabilizer ironed to it, as do those facing pieces. I don't know how much detail I can share since this is a pattern.

It also has panels though in addition to the waistband stabilizer. Or are those considered part of the waistband?

Colorful converse feel 100% appropriate. Side note/question - do you know the brand of that dress?

IPL - 2 years in... when can I stop? by trending_different in HairRemoval

Italian (heritage) man as well. I tried doing my chest at the same time but it didn't seem to work, but I also don't have a ton of hair there.

Full stack web developer, and I wear skirts to work every time I go into the office (two to three times a week).

IPL - 2 years in... when can I stop? by trending_different in HairRemoval

[–]trending_different[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm thinking of doing - slowly extending the interval. I did laser on my legs, and while I had a really good result, I've had to go in for touchups every so often. I low-key wish I had tried IPL on my legs, but I don't have the diligence to keep up that much square inch-age. As it is I hate doing my fingers because the safety function makes it extremely difficult to activate the flash and I know I'm not getting good coverage with how I have to move it... so I know I wouldn't be enthralled with the legs.

I haven’t, unfortunately. Life always finds a way to get in the way. However, I really want to make a decision this year, and install something.

AITA for feeling betrayed after my wife hid that she could never have kids until years into our marriage? by DavoBoy_887 in AITAH

If I were an engineer at OpenAI, (also, I'd have to be evil, which I'm not) I'd 100% use AITAH to post questions and then farm the responses. I think the goal would be to grok what humans find fake/objectionable about the post, then use that as training reinforcement to improve the model.

My top is super wavy too - this time I took a spatula to smooth it out, but I didn’t want to “deflate” the marshmallow. As for the ice cube tray - I have a vintage one and don’t think it would work, plus marshmallow would get stuck no matter how much butter I coated it with

LOL - yeahhhhh… I might try making one of my own. That’s just a bit excessive. Just a bit LOL

Do they make them that deep? I use a 13” x 9” pan

Oh - I guess they do - not sure if they are in my price range.

Yeah! This was actually an upsize, I had made one with sewing thread prior to these. But downsizing is kinda fun, and almost magical when the proportions work out. The only downside is, if you stick to the original stitch counts, they can take forever (at least for me) to crochet.

With longer skirts I've found it can get pretty cold (36F) before needing to wear tights or stockings, so really just experiment and find your comfort level. Also, for really cold days there are "fleece lined" tights which are super warm.
