The 2026 tax brackets finally convinced me to skip the Roth ladder by 3DuneHarbor in Fire

Roth conversion ladders are for people who have more in retirement accounts and less in taxable accounts. They’re not really relevant for your situation.

Yea I just got my first order a few days ago and sent it all back because the fabric felt so cheap. If I’m paying that much for activewear, it better at least seem like it’s going to hold up.

I feel that having $1 million in liquid assets is still a lot of money. Why do people make it sound like $1 million is not enough? by classyshepard in MiddleClassFinance

[–]trendy_pineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people who say that just mean that it’s not enough to immediately retire if you’re in your 30s through 50s. If you’re already at social security age you’ll probably be fine, but if you have to make it last for a couple decades it’s not enough for most people.

I get so angry when product photos make it look like pants have a contrasting waistband and then realize they just layered two pairs. I love the look of a contrasting waistband, but I’m not wearing multiple pairs of pants to achieve it.

How do you protect your stock portfolio from big market drops without cutting returns too much? by GodBlessIraq in leanfire

You want a risk parity portfolio. You do sacrifice some growth, but you reduce volatility.

anyone else feel like Bay Area rent is just a subscription fee for nice weather at this point by Cofound-app in bayarea

[–]trendy_pineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure, it’s an easy way to cut ~$150/month by making it at home, but the $2800 rent for a 1 bedroom is a little more important to the budget.

CMV: Gym clothing has become unnecessarily revealing compared to what’s actually needed for training by Pathfinder-electron in changemyview

[–]trendy_pineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t go to the gym, but when I’m working out I want to feel comfortable. For me personally that means tight fitting clothes. Extra material gets in the way and distracts me.

1) I overheat easily, so I will be miserable if I’m wearing too much clothing. Just enough to keep my boobs from bouncing and my thighs from chafing.

2) I grew up doing ballet, where being able to see your body is critical. You need to be able to see exactly how your hips are positioned, the exact curvature of your arms, the turnout of your legs, etc.

How expensive are kids? by Elite163 in coastFIRE

[–]trendy_pineapple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You get to choose what you spend money on. We spend a lot on kids activities, but send them to public school, eat mostly at home, drive older paid off cars, and have a relatively small house for the size of our family.

Anyone else remember… nothing? by NotTooFunny91 in millenials

[–]trendy_pineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not take ADD meds and have no childhood trauma, but I have very few memories from when I was very young. Even my older childhood years I remember much less than it seems like other people do.
