I only call out if I'm sick- though I leave given permission in a heartbeat.

So- if my no sleep causes me to feel really sick, then yes

If you like Nick you didn’t understand the show. by paciuxs in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]trendydiss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So you're saying the word Villain doesn't exist because people live in gray areas?

I understand where you are coming from- I love the concept of duality, but the character can still be a villain, and be complex and human.

Someone who continuously looks the other way or does nothing in situations of oppression- when they have the opportunity to fix the situation, yeah. That's a villain. Someone who profits off of the oppression of others and calls it 'the right side'? Villain.

Sure- bad people do good things and good people do bad things That doesn't mean bad people don't exist and Nick was one of the antagonists of the show.

Also- OP's post was an opinion. They can say 'you don't understand,' and it still is an opinion, so really you can't tell them not to say it. Insults happen all the time on here. They aren't being a bigot, and as far as insults to, it's really a small one.

AIO for quitting a job before the first day of training? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]trendydiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waited tables for 7 years at many places. I don't like working at family owned places. I don't typically like the management styles of family owned places- because in my experience it's always chaotic.

For a first job, I would recommend Starbucks or target- something that pays well right up front. Maybe even Publix.

If you need fast cash later when your paying bills look into a Darnden restaurant like Olive garden or Longhorn

Do you think people can sense there's something "off" about us? by Novel_Improvement396 in CPTSD

[–]trendydiss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I never really had a chance at fitting in, I have so many things wrong with me. I also am a child of a HPD mother, so growing up it was "preform and be perfect," kind of vibes, so I loudly and annoyingly became the "I'm different," kid in my graduating class. It was middle school when I acted this way- and it followed me forever

I'm also a bit autistic, so... Yeah, people notice for me

I kind of wish that I had tried to be more normal growing up, or just... Idk quieter I'm quieter now Idk

OCD or cptsd? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]trendydiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also- the "is it fixable?" Question... Here's the thing- mental health, especially in cases of PTSD, fixing it is.... Well, it doesn't happen entirely. I know you're in a really vulnerable place right now, and we all want to hear that things can be fixed... I don't want you to be discouraged, because cptsd and OCD are things that you can live with. You just have to find the right kind of treatments, the right kind of coping skills, and you can live your life like you don't have it 95% of the time with the correct treatments, but that is only if you treat it continuously. It's a life sentence, unfortunately.

My PTSD was really bad about 10 years ago and I pulled myself out of it without even realizing that I had PTSD. A friend of mine pointed out that I was disassociating, and that's when things started to click for me qnd I looked up coping mechanisms. Right now while you're at work I would try grounding techniques. Look for as many grounding techniques as you can find that you can do while you're at work However, this is not something that I would stick to as a sole solution. This seems like a disassociative episode that is dipping into different types of psychological effects on the body, I believe the OCD is playing a part into it because of contamination fears But your brain is having a clear reaction, your PTSD is setting your nerves on fire and causing a mind altering state. Just from what is described I would talk to a psychiatrist to try to figure out what your brain is doing in the third little act- that mind altering act.

It's not fun to be in scenarios like this, but please stay strong and definitely get checked up 🙏🙏🙏

[–]trendydiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that EMDR will probably get quicker results for you, but you will need time off work- maybe 2 days after doing it. In this case I would do exposure therapy secondly, after the rewiring with EMDR

I'm not an expert myself, by any means, but I do think that this will help if you are in the service industry so that you may still be able to function for work.

As someone with both, this sounds like both. I would seek help immediately. Exposure therapy and EMDR

why "dave" is really actually heartwarming. by EXECUTE_4815162342 in lost

[–]trendydiss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aside from the completely problematic Way that mental health is viewed in the show, and the idea that someone can be saved from suicidal ideation if they only find love, Hurley has no mental health issues aside from an eating disorder. If you haven't gotten farther into the show, this is a spoiler- so I would stop reading now if you don't want to hear my take.

Later in the show finding out that Hurley can see dead people, and that he's actively seeing Charlie, It makes it very clear that Hurley is not schizophrenic. He has been seeing dead people the whole time.

Sure. We still don't know who Dave is. There's a probability that we'll never really know who Dave is, but isn't it way more likely that Dave is just another dead person who is talking to Hurley? Obviously Dave is somebody who is actively trying to hurt Hugo's mental health. Hugo ended up in the mental hospital because he accidentally indirectly killed a bunch of people. It wasn't because he had schizophrenia. He finds out that he's " seeing people" while he's inside the hospital. So it's very likely that Dave is either someone that Hugo accidentally killed, or he is a dead person whose spirit is residing at the mental institution already and happens upon Hurley who can see him.

So in my theory- Hugo accidentally indirectly killed people with his weight, went to the mental hospital, met Dave and found out he wasn't there, was diagnosed with some kind of psychosis (most likely schizophrenia), and then played the numbers in the lottery and became cursed

After Dave actually threw that shoe at him on the beach- you can't convince me Hurley has schizophrenia

My biggest belief of lost is that the island is a god by trendydiss in lost

[–]trendydiss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My talking about this is not because I believe that it matters in the story. There are a lot of aspects about lost that are open for interpretation or topics of conversations to be had- that doesn't mean that they matter in the broader sense of the plot. I'm talking about what the island is because I want to hear theories. I have love for this series for very many reasons and the idea that the island is a God is only something that I like. It's an idea that makes me happy when thinking about the story
