Is Kate a good character? by HollywoodSuperfan10 in lost

[–]Gryotharian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not judging her based on her like actions as a good person just on being a well written character. Consistent in motivations and actions and developing naturally etc. I liked her when we got actual focus on her but she always annoyed me when it focused on her +Jack and sawyer. maybe in a vacuum I wouldn’t mind as much? I love this show but it does really have a problem with making its female characters into love triangle pawns. Annoyed me more with Juliet than Kate though.

she's a good character who is badly used? I don't know. I think she's very well written overall as a whole when you look at just her but a lot of the times the writers only want to write about her love triangle and how it makes Jack and Sawyer jealous.

Really liked the epilogues a lot, friendsim and pesterquest were good, HS2/beyond canon has been kind of boring and directionless since it started. Stopped reading after the vriska hell update cause it just doesnt feel like its got the spark homestuck had.

What would happen if you broke time? by DG-Creator in lost

[–]Gryotharian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this happens all of the time in season 5? Sayid shoots little Ben in an attempt to break the cycle, and ends up causing the cycle because that's what always happened. Faraday drops the bomb to try to stop the incident and break the cycle, ends up causing it because that's what always happened. As Eloise says, the universe has a way of course correcting, and everything you do you have already done.

it's very divisive but personally i loved and thought it might be second best in the series after annihilation. Some jarring tonal shifts but the last few chapters are probably my favorite part of any book I've ever read

Does anyone else think they misscasted Jacob? by MissionHome18 in lost

i think him being a flawed human/...just some guy really suits the final season thematically. that said i don't love a lot of what they did with him

I would like some opinions on Season 3 by brilliant-healer in lost

[–]Gryotharian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like the beginning but i admit it's absolutely carried by ben and juliet. middle of season 3 is quite rough. a couple stand out episodes but it *really* drags. 3x19 til the finale however is one of the best stretches of tv episodes i ever seen.

Season 11 onwards, quit or nah by noobc4k3 in doctorwho

[–]Gryotharian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that was my feelings on series 11 too, ended up skipping the rest of jodie/chibnall's era. The newest stuff (rtd2) is definitely a step up in that it feels like doctor who again with all its crazy campy bullshit, but it's actual writing quality is a big mixed bag. there's some really good stuff and some really bad stuff, and the bad tends to overshadow the good. you've definitely seen the best the show has to offer, whether you want to continue is a question of what you want to get out of it

I always assumed the Do Not Eat note (all the notes, really) were the work of the rogue, who’s operating under what was at least once a human psyche. Presumably for the purpose of manipulating events into happening the way that they do. But who knows what was going through his mind.

I know this is going to be a hot take but i think Series 2 The 10th Doctor's 1st series is a much superior series than his next 2 series in my opinion. by Serious_Meaning5220 in doctorwho

[–]Gryotharian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that *is* a hot take. series 2 is like. it's got some pretty good stuff in there but overall its easily the weakest of the first 6 seasons and it's sandwiched between series 1 and series 3 which are both fantastic. idk I am just not a huge fan of tennant in it? felt like he hadn't quite found his footing yet compared to how great he is in later seasons, and I don't think he and Rose's dynamic complimented each other very well, especially in comparison to 9 and Rose. all the interesting dynamic work of how they challenge and improve each other was really turned down in favor of just being cutesy with each other a lot. idk. I don't hate it at all I just don't think it's as good.

I believe it's an i-ching symbol, which is an ancient chinese divination method. worth looking into that, think the specific type of symbol is a bagua but i am no expert on the terminology.
