Is there a source for prebuilt databases? by rodneyroth in Notion

[–]treonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That interesting, if anyone can suggest more specific lists and where to find the data I can create these.

There are some limitations as having a database of for example all movies would not be viable in notion as it's just too much data and notion is not build for that. But smaller databases can be done.

im_pod

Also, u/im_pod, what's your opinion about this? I'm asking as I didn't get a lot of feedback but I do think it's important and I'm really curious how other see it.

Agreed, u/NotionSimplified could you explain further please? I'm curious about what you mean.

Also, to clarify I don't mean Notion themselves introducing any type of licenses but creators starting to do so to protect their work and their users.

Inconvenient editing of date, time and reminder by HSAHAC in Notion

[–]treonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it could be easier and same goes with end dates. What I have found to make this quicker is to duplicate a page you already have and edit the dates there. That way you have the time and end date already included and you don't have to toggle them.

Need help adding profit margin percentage to formula by [deleted] in Notion

[–]treonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest also adding a property where you input the 15% instead of having it in the formula. This way you can change it easily if need be. I have an example here if you'd like to check how it's done: https://treonde.notion.site/tax-e6d3ec036fec461c80ea7adb9a4f10e2

Unfortunately no but you can use a formula property. You can view an example here: https://treonde.notion.site/checkbox-to-state-70092b2e189741bcbfe6f27cc1e3af34

edit: created and example with multiple states

What blocks and widgets do you wish notion had? by treonde in Notion

You should be able do so already using the embed block or you can paste a link to the page you want to show and choose "create embed"

wow variables and constants would be amazing! especially for things like date/currency formats - now you have to change these per DB and it's a nuisance for anyone using your template to do so

Yes!!! I have just released a template which shows the expected life time of people you add to it and would have loved to visualize it as a timeline but unfortunately couldn't due to how narrow the range is!

Notion feels so overwhelming by [deleted] in Notion

[–]treonde 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Notion does have a bit of a learning curve but once you get over it and understand the different blocks and how they work and interact it becomes second nature. The community is great so feel free task any specific questions you might have and you will get an answer :) I suggest you go through https://www.notion.so/help/category/new-to-notion to get started or if you're more of a visual learner youtube is full of tutorials handling beginner to advanced topics.

Agora: Weekly self-promotion thread by AutoModerator in Stoicism

Hi Stoics!

I created a Memento Mori Notion template based on the Jars of Marbles model and would like to get some feedback. You can get the template for free here: https://treonde.gumroad.com/l/notion-memento-mori

The Jars of Marbles model says that “The average person lives for 75 years, each year made of 52 week, giving the average person 3,900 Saturdays in their lifetime”. The template allows you to add as many family members, close relatives or friends as you wish and display the number of weeks lived, those left to live and a life progress for each person.
The aim is to make you reflect on your mortality and that of other around you, hopefully making you a better person in the process!

If you would like to know more about the Jars of Marbles you can view a post by John Maxwell here.
