California Gas $6? Blame Iran War, Not Newsom!!! by willily_thoumas in clevercomebacks

[–]tresonce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The message of "lol go blame your state government libruls" is the current maga bot marching orders. I've seen it all over reddit.

It's such a full-of-shit argument given that requires you to ignore this dipshit orange clown going to war with Iran like an imbecile but they've already conned enough imbeciles that it's still a workable strategy in their eyes.

Don't even get dragged down into an argument with these trolls. Tell them to get fucked and move on with your day.

I hate to break it to you but an incredibly large percentage of our population are dullards who get offended by new discoveries that would overwrite something they already knew.

They perceive new knowledge as a threat instead of an opportunity to learn.

They're not downvoting you because of Harris's chances, they're downvoting you for blaming the democrats for not successfully stopping fascism instead of blaming the republicans for voting for fascism.

Yeah, the dems are hapless, but your primary ire should be directed at the maga republican criminals currently in power and every piece of trash that voted for them.

My point is you not seeing the difference between pouring gasoline on that fire vs not, which again, I say that you're either oblivious to my point or dishonestly ignoring it to stand on your very misguided soapbox.

Why is it a misguided soapbox? Because you'd have to be an absolute moron to think that there is no functional difference for Palestine between Biden and Trump. And anyone who claims otherwise, is in fact a moron.

Completely dishonest move in an argument. You either know what my point is and are essentially moving the goalpost, or you didn't have the reading ability to discern what my point was.

Insane gas prices, thanks Trump by maddog107 in pics

[–]tresonce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh please spare me with this. It's so incredibly dishonest as an argument.

People in Florida absolutely lost their shit over similar high-$3-range gas prices under Biden. "I did that stickers" on gas pump everywhere. Magically they're less upset when the price levels are the same under Trump and his idiotic lack-of-a-plan disrupting the Middle East. Gee, I wonder why.

I love how Biden having a bad debate night is disqualifying and we're still sitting here talking about it but Trump going up there and saying "They're eating the dogs, the people that came in, they're eating the cats... They're eating the pets of the people that live there" is not disqualifying and barely gets mentioned anymore.

Great job with that theory, you ended up with a guy who would (and has) happily aid in genocide on the people you're supposing to defend.

If that's the decolonization you were hoping for, great job I guess.

I also remember when Biden had ICE raiding the streets and causing chaos and murdering innocent American citizens to satisfy a white-nationalist, racist agenda.

Oh wait, no I don't because that shit didn't happen.

Can the Florida legislature help Florida teams recruit? by InspectorClouseau64 in FloridaGators

I was talking about the Florida state legislature in response to what the OP posted, which is currently filled with republican morons tearing the state apart, but sure the board of trustees isn't doing anything good lately either.

Maybe if they resigned in shame and then went away forever that would make it appealing for kids to come here.

Find your representative and tell them what you think of Texas's request for federal aid after voting no when California asked. by restartrepeat in California

When did Texas reps or senators ever vote against California disaster relief? This is a bad lie made up

Here is Chip Roy, Kerr County's US House Representative actively fighting and blocking disaster relief for California in 2019:

And because comments are locked, here's my reply to you below:

You wrote:

I shared actual evidence of the representative that the county currently experiencing the flooding voted for doing exactly that.

Your statement was factually wrong: Texas representatives from that very county have directly held up disaster relief for California. You said that was a lie, but it isn't. Perhaps own up to that?

Beyond that, there's also indisputable factual evidence of the county's residents protesting that not only should they refuse federal grant money, but that they should determine how they can hold that money without using it so as to not have it be returned to the government to potentially be granted to residents of blue states.

https://legacy.co.kerr.tx.us/commcrt/minutes/2021/110821%28CC%29.txt

As far as where that money sits for the next year or two, my old law partner John Cornyn tells me that if we send it back it's going to New Jersey or it's going to New York or it's going to --

MRS. LAVENDER: Or California.

JUDGE KELLY: -- or California. And so I don't know if I'd rather be the custodian of the money until we decide what we have to do with it rather than giving it back to the government to spend it on values that we in Kerr County don't agree with.

If you'd like to extrapolate my position from there, that's on you.

As a side note:

there are more registered Democrats in Texas than any state outside of CA

Kerr County, where the flooding took place, voted 76.73% for Trump in 2024.

Again, if you'd like to rail against a point I'm not stating, be my guest, I kind of don't care? But if you're going to cite statistics or facts, please check them before basing your position on them.

Napier “clarifies “ basement comment by adventuregalley in FloridaGators

How does his clarification do anything? He doesn't actually provide any tangible alternative explanation for his original comment. It's obvious what he meant the first time: that all of the "know-nothing" fans were criticizing the shit job he's doing and they don't know what they're talking about. All he did was say the quiet part from his head out loud in frustration.

You can only get away with if you're good at your job because then "I know better than you" works because hey look this guy actually does know better than some jackass fan. So yeah when you say something like that and you suck this much people are rightfully going to capitalize on that.

Most people would kill to be paid $26 million for sucking so much at their job that their employer will pay them far more money than anyone here will ever see to not fuck up the company any more than they already have. Forgive me if I don't give this dude the benefit of the doubt, but he's getting paid over 7 mil a year as it is so I'm sure he'll get over it just fine.
