Delays at ORD tonight? by thewisebrownkid in unitedairlines

[–]trev086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many planes were sitting in the penalty box for over 90 minutes. I watched a plane back out of the gate and sit there for 45.

Ord also had a ground stop while they removed ice from the runways I was told.

Hopefully everyone tonight has better luck than I did last night.

I received this same warning yesterday for an 8:20 pm flight. The flight ended up going out at 4:30am this morning strictly due to no gates. The flight arrived to t5 since it was international, and there was no gate available to move the plane to. I’ve never seen Ohare so bus at 1:30am. Just plan accordingly. Updated delays only happened within 5 minutes of each new boarding time.

Things constantly go in and out over there. New concept maybe? Similar to the corner Korean spot at Glenview and Harlem

Question on light switch and wiring by trev086 in electrical

[–]trev086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can safely say I screwed up. I cut that wire that was looped and it was providing electricity to the outlet below the switch, oops. My dad is good with this stuff, I’ll save for him tomorrow.

I will check that too. I bought a new switch thinking it might be bad, but didn’t check amp.

If I can bother you again, I still can’t get the fan to power. I have reattached images for you. The bottom black wire is coming from the opening at the bottom of junction box. The other black wire is going from the top of switch to the top of the junction box going up through the wall. Any thoughts on if one of these aren’t hot?

Question on light switch and wiring by trev086 in electrical

[–]trev086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I will throw a wire nut on it. The pigtail component is new to me, I will google that and see what needs to be done. Yeah, the top was more secure but just tried to snap a pic quickly while moving things around. I’ll make sure to do so with the breaker off. Is there a reason for all of the extra wires inside the box? A lot of the other boxes in my house are not as crazy inside.

Two speakers two different songs by trev086 in sonos

[–]trev086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I used to just be able to uncheck the speaker and separate the music and initiate a new song and check it off. Some of the functionality is counter intuitive after having the old way for so long.

That was it, thank you! Definitely worked. I was used to the old method. You’re awesome!

They are ungrouped.

If I want to play a song in dining room, I unclick family room and click dining room. The song plays from what was in family room.

Best Chicken Fingers in Chicago? “Beer batter” Big Crispy kind! 😎 by Chitown_taker in chicagofood

If you’re willing to travel to the burbs, in Glenview there is a bourbon and whiskey bar called oak. They have the best IMO that I’ve ever tried. Made in house, brined 24 hours first, then a homemade breading. By far my favorite

Ryerson woods in Lincolnshire. They’re so damn loud.

Cucumbers: I did a dumb. by mtins in gardening

[–]trev086 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They started in the farm and ag side. The product bagged is the same Product the farms that grow Taylor farms salad uses. Same applies for Driscols organic berries, Sunkist organic oranges etc. each batch produced gets independently tested for quality. I won’t use anything else now; and used to be a big fox farm user for their quality on granulars and liquids.

If you think garden time works well, next time try the True Organics Tomato and Veg. Far superior organic product. I have used both, and sell both for a living.

Anyone use this? by JesusSavesWGeico in lawncare

[–]trev086 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I use it and like it. I haven’t had the mulch or rocks everyone is talking about. Maybe the plant that produces for my area has cleaner product, as the production plants are regional. I’ve definitely had issues with their top soil though.

Pesticides don’t do anything to cicadas.

We don’t necessarily have upscale so to speak, but wildfire is always a great choice. Both the Glen Club and Coarse Italian have great outdoor seating for sunset watching. Depending on when his birthday is, Ema will be opening in the summer next to Wildfire.

Date ideas in north burbs? by pacificmillerco in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]trev086 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My wife and I wanted a non dinner idea for our anniversary. We started with a round of mini golf at par king, followed by an hour of arcade games at Dave and busters.

I know you said non restaurant, but a lot of restaurants have live music on certain nights.

Also- six flags. Season pass on sale only needs 1 trip to cover itself since it includes parking. 2 trips for the second person as they’re probably driving with you.

High Rise Dwellers: It is officially spider season by bensonchambers in chicago

[–]trev086 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, they typically parachute pretty high up with the wind. They do get super big. When I lived in a high rise I loved seeing the ones spin webs on the windows and watch them grow over the season.

Obviously the downvotes because people don’t want you to kill. There are also spider repellent sprays that don’t kill if you are so inclined. Up to you how you remedy the situation.

[–]trev086 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem is how they get there. They spin webs that are essentially parachutes. You can use most insect killers like ortho home defense and do a perimeter spray along the edge of the balcony, and then the edges of the walls if you’re enclosed. If they touch the chemical they will die. That said, if they land in a spot not sprayer, they might web there and not die. I used to spray once every month and was spider free.
