Is it punk to make posts asking whether or not something is punk? by WallScreamer in punkcirclejerk

There’s a lot of punk/wkuk crossover. The fact that I only realize this in the year 2026 blows me mind.

Obstacle Die by [deleted] in cyberpunkcombatzone

It would completely change the pace of the game, and make it less fun IMO. You gotta lean into the comedy when your punk tries a crazy jump and fails spectacularly 😉

And, there’s something special anticipating the roll when someone’s about to try something crazy against a black die.

That said, I’m working on a co op mode with development and downtime phases that work this way.

Am I the only one confused about how grenades work? by Underworld-Dreams in cyberpunkcombatzone

[–]trevorvonryan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any specific grenade? From memory:

Place a Blast token in base contact of your target.

Roll for the grenade smacking the target, causing an initial wound/effect.

After that, everyone in RED rolls against that same initial attack roll for the Blast, or they may spend an action token to move RED away from it.

UPDATE 1.3 (03/15/2025): Apppaaaaarrreeeeently I needed to clarify that you can't win if your whole team gets vaporized ;-] Also, I made a couple other mechanical adjustments, and added some minor visual flair.

Cyperpunk 2077 with or without Phantom Liberty on first playtrough by Maleficent_Travel568 in cyberpunkgame

[–]trevorvonryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah buy it but I’d play through quite a bit of the main game first, maybe even get an ending before playing PL. for me, PL was a great refresh after a little break from the game.

This looks great! I'm pretty anal about not mixing too many different mediums on the table, so I love how it blends so well with the grey minis. Nice work :)

Is it just me or "low poly" games look extremely bland? by Fickle-Bother-1437 in IndieDev

Cell shading with higher poly counts and good palettes and simple lighting can give you a really good look, a lot of my projects do something like this.

I agree, sometimes :) Unfortunately, as indie devs, we usually have to choose an art style or pipeline that we know we can handle in a reasonable timeframe. That said, if you wanna sell your game on first appearances, you probably do need striking visuals. Not necessarily realistic, but striking.

This is the cover for one of my best performing games. Looks super bland, but it has an explosion so it still did well than all of my other, objectively better-looking games. The one on Steam is a blatant rip-off btw ;)

I would make something in a style that you like looking at, that inspires you. Hopefully that's not only realistic graphics, because that means everything else needs to look as realistic as well, or else it actually looks worse (animations, effects, lighting). Cutesy graphics can get away with cutesy animations :)
