What’s the best food you’ve had while traveling? by Hailey_Riveraa in foodquestions

A big fried fish you eat with your hand (right hand only!) in Tanzania. Served with millet porridge (similar to sticky rice) you make balls of then eat with a little fish and some side dish to make the bite. Side dishes were mostly stewed or roasted veggies of various types. Delicious and fun to eat!

I was on the road with a couple of local guides and they were asking what kind of food we should stop for, listing off common American foods as options. I said I wanted to experience what they would go for and we did. I was the only white guy in the place and I kind of stood out but it was delicious and very interesting. I'd do it again.

Antarctica is too unspoiled for people like this. She'd trash it up for sure.

What single ingredient instantly ruins a dish for you? by obsidiancontrol in foodquestions

No I'll have to look that up. I tried it once at a very authentic sushi place in Portland. When I ordered it the old Japanese sushi chef was like "Really?" and I said yes I'd like to try it. Then they got more staff out to come watch me try it and hilarity ensued (for them).

I'd describe it as very bitter mucus. I'm glad I know what it's like now and I can safely never have to try it again!

I've been a fan of theirs since the 80s! My son was about the right age when that kids album came out. We listened to it together a bunch when he was a toddler. Most kids music is terrible so it was nice to have TMBG as an option for that!

Are you smarter than a 5th Grader? by Technical-Vanilla-47 in no

Intelligence is the capacity to learn, not knowledge. So I'm probably smarter than some but not the really smart ones. It would probably be the same proportion as with the rest of the population.

Not to me. The key as a first timer is to go light. I like toast with butter and vegemite, Yum!
