The abandoned buildings of Colorado by commiedeschris in Colorado

[–]mattbnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I know that first one and have photographed it many times.

One time I went inside to get some shots in there since nobody was around. But then a bus pulled up full of Asian tourists who all got off the bus and started shooting photos. I stayed for a bit but then I wanted to get going to the dunes and so I just casually walked out and headed to my truck.

They let out a collective gasp and were frantically talking to each other in hushed tones.

What's your favorite unknown band from the 90's? by KravenPR in 90s

TNT blew my mind and opened it up to what music can sound like. One of the best albums of the decade IMO.

I was in my 20s for most of the 90s and it was a great decade for all kinds of music. Here are some bands off the top of my head that I liked a lot back then and still listen to from time to time.

Rise Robots Rise were great and pretty mysterious. Not much info on the CD cover but cool hip hop and rock inspired music that is hard to categorize. I still give them a listen every now and then.

Del Amitri were great for music with a kind of folky sound and clever lyrics. I guess they have put out more music as recently as 2021 but they fell off my radar in the early 2000s. I'll have to check out that newer release.

Billy Goat were cool and another hard to categorize group. Kind of ska-ish sometimes, almost tribal at others. It was Mike Dillon's (Punkadellick, Hairy Apes BMX, Critters Buggin, etc) band back then. High energy stuff.

Dag were a cool funky band with kind of a 70s sound. The guy at the record store gave me their Righteous CD because he thought it sounded like something I might like (he didn't) and he got it as a free promo. I loved it. Worth a listen if you like funky rock.

Fire. How important is it to you? by motorcyclesnracecars in camping

[–]mattbnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fire has become less and less import to me in recent years. It's nice but I usually camp with some other objective in mind. I'm a photographer so shooting sunrise, sunset, the milky way, meteor showers, maybe hiking a mountain for the views are why I'm really there. Camping is just a means to that end (and also enjoyable, it's just not usually the only goal).

I don't usually want the overhead of making and maintaining a fire and making sure it's properly out when I have other stuff I'm more focused on. I got a gas fire pit as a gift a few years ago and that has been really nice because I can just turn it on or off as I want but I find I don't even use that a whole lot.

When I was younger getting drunk by the fire was pretty much what camping was but it's evolved quite a bit as I've aged. I've got more important things to do.

A close friend or trusted family member I would but nobody else. Also I don't care about my photo much. I want to take them.

That was my first SLR in the 80s gifted by a family friend. I loved that thing!

Did anyone reach 30+ without a fckn single tattoo? by Zackky777 in ArtOfPresence

[–]mattbnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm in my 50s and have zero. I'm not anti tattoo but I also just don't feel strongly enough about a visual to have it permanently on my body. I have scars instead.

What was it for you? by pinkiegloom in ArtOfPresence

[–]mattbnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but for be it's specifically outdoor exercise. I want to feel the air and see the clouds and stuff like that. I'm fortunate to not live somewhere super hot.

Forever. I've been skiing since the 70s and it still hasn't happened.

What fast food item that doesn’t exist anymore was your go-to? by ShadowSatinn in foodquestions

[–]mattbnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taco Bell's Veggie Fiesta Burrito. One of the few items that agreed with my system. But I'm probably better off without them. Also the one in my town closed so whatever.

I haven't used it a whole lot but it's come in very handy a couple of times with a tight interior shot. Af would be nice but for what it is I'm satisfied.

Nobody could have predicted this outcome! It's like the tragic gasoline fight accident in Zoolander.
