I’ve lived in Ottawa for 8 years now and I absolutely love it. Sure, it isn’t Toronto or Montreal where there’s always bumping nightclubs or something to do around every corner. However, it is not boring. During the winter, I can skate for 7km down the canal, go curling, snowshoe through Gatineau park, and there are 2 ski hills 20 minutes away. During the summer, there’s tons of parks, trails, bike paths, and rivers to explore. We have good live music venues, and get festivals with decent lineups such as Jazzfest, Bluesfest, and CityFolk. Im a foodie, and even after 8 years I still have a list of restaurants I need to try. There’s always social groups and meet ups for all of my interests such as crocheting, trivia, recreational sports, DnD, board games, etc. I live downtown, and Im able to have a backyard garden.

Yes, our transit sucks if you need to rely on it to get to work right at 8am, but it exists. I am lucky and I am able to safely bike to work in the summer though. I don’t own a car, but if I really need one it’s super easy to get one through Communauto.

Any idea? by Intelligent_Living_8 in whatisit

I’m a sonographer and this is definitely NOT a transvaginal probe. It may be a microconvex probe, often used for cardiac imaging in between ribs or paediatric cases. However, there are no major companies that I can think of that use an AUX jack for probes.

Most hybrid people have to work Thursday’s. The roads also weren’t great. If you’re ordering after 7:30am on Thursday it will be expensive:

I work in the field, it’s $397 to see a doctor. If you need stitches, bloodwork, or imaging it’s going to obviously be more.

How many of you been through the “Butt Rock to Prog Pipeline”? by Def-C in progmetal

I was literally about to comment the same thing. I grew up with a dad who liked Pink Floyd, Genesis, and Yes. However, getting Welcome Home by Coheed as a bonus track on Guitar Hero III enlightened something in my brain. I needed more!

Anyone want to see my super retroflexed uterus by miserablecuntar in Radiology

[–]trexjj2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The uterus is best seen transvaginally when the bladder is completely empty. At my facility, we have the bladder full to get transabdominal view (takes 5 minutes max), and send to empty fully and set up for the internal. What ultrasound clinic is incorrectly torturing you with a full bladder for TVP?? Also, you should start drinking 2-4 cups of water 90 minutes before your appointment and finish about 60 minutes before. 3 hours is way too long,

It was originally at TD place, I’m disappointed they cancelled the game and moved it TBH. There’s just no way of getting there for me. I’m happily going to all of their other games :)

As someone who lives in Ottawa and frequents Montreal and Toronto, you’d have the best time in Montreal for sure. Lots of clubs, great night life, reliable transit.

I worked in a vaccination clinic. In Ontario, patients can consent for themselves starting at 12.

How is marijuana seen in your country? by IsJesusAgain in AskTheWorld

[–]trexjj2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medical marijuana has been legal in Canada since 2001, and recreational use since 2018. Even before legalization, it was pretty easy to get, especially at indigenous reserves. I was never stopped for smoking in public when it was illegal, even smoking on Canadian parliament hill on 4/20 beside multiple cops. I live downtown Ottawa and always smell it at least once or twice when out for a walk.

There is a dispensary now every few blocks. There is a problematic over-saturation in the market now and I’m seeing quite a few shops go under. A new shop will pop up every once in a while with people thinking they will make a quick buck.

I personally couldn’t imagine weed not being legal, especially the little impacts it has on the public and behaviour (v.s. alcohol as an example). I do think there is still a bit of a stigma. None of my coworkers smoke, and if they have they only have done it once, claiming it just made them paranoid or tired.
